Can we have FF back then or a replacement for him. I'd say the mod team is lacking presence and knowledge in the SA gym type threads at the moment.

It was Freefaller's choice to step down - it's not as if we can make him moderate, it's a voluntary thing so his choice has to be respected on that and he's still free to contribute as much as time allows him to. His advice is no more or less valuable or respected because he's not a moderator - nothing changes except he doesn't have the ability to ban/edit etc.

I do read the Gymratz thread most days and occasionally the others but I don't post much in them - that's partly due to a lack of knowledge as you suggest but the majority of the time the threads seem to tick along happily enough so there doesn't seem a lot of point in sticking my oar in just for the sake of it.

To help me understand - what is it that you feel a more active moderator contribution would help with? There's plenty of knowledge in the forum members who do still post in the Gymratz threads and most of the time people are reasonably well behaved - I can post more often if it would be useful but unless there's a good reason I prefer to let the discussion flow naturally.

Can you make me a Don in La Cuisine so I can ban those with rubbish taste in beer? It'll destroy their self esteem, and make them go out and get into good beer.

Cainer would also be banned from 'Now Eating', obviously. ;) :p.

Not necessarily a mod, a UB which can be active that's all.
There are some times that talk does take a turn to an area that isn't allowed, a lot of the time the posters know they are on the line and stay the right side, other times FF will remind people it's not the right place. Now we all respect FF and know him and his past Donship, newer posters won't and might take things in the wrong direction.

I know that SA is pretty self regulating, but then motors was at one point as well and then over a period it got worse and started being a bad place for new people. Any mod activity then, by non normal motors mods, caused issues.
I don't want SA becoming like that also :)

I think there is an opportunity currently to help dispel the image that geeks/nerds are all unfit and unsporting people, can only help the forum and the image of it :)

DirtyJester is hot stuff!
