Non alcoholic / De-alcoholised beer's

Not had the Brewdog but my choice at the moment is the Bavaria Wit 0.0% from Tesco (and probably other places too). Nothing I've tried really matches an actual pint of proper beer but this is my favourite.

I've seen that in Tesco. I will have to try it out. I thought I might find Nanny State in tesco considering it is on their website, couldn't see it at all today, not in Waitrose either. I need to find somewhere that sells it in London.

I had the furstenberg one before, thought it wasn't bad, there was another wheat beer one I had recently but was watery as...
tbh when I wasn't drinking I never found any that were as nice as a proper pint so ended up drinking other soft drinks

and the whole point in having a few cold beers on a summers day is FOR the fuzzy head (or is that just me?!)

Definitely enjoy beer for the summer days and fuzzy head. I'm looking for an alternative to a soft drink to enjoy when I'm not socialising.

Asahi Dry Zero is another I will keep an eye out for. There are a lot of Japanese shops near me so they may stock it.

The standard Bavaria is the one for me, pretty cheap too. I've tried the Bavaria Wit, Erdinger, Budvar, Brewdog, Bernard and Becks but Bavaria is the only one I rate. Its pretty malty but pleasant with it, the rest are all a bit lacking. The Brewdog offering is interesting in that it's so hoppy tasting but after drinking 2 or 3 a few years ago I've never gone back to it.

If you can get a good beer at around 2/2.5 percent then that's where it's at.

The best I've had (which was actually really quite good) was an Erdinger Weissbier 0% job. Anything else tastes like arse.

Also, do yourself a favour and instead of spending money on alcohol-free beer, buy whatever Fentiman's drink takes your fancy (the cola is amazing). It's much better stuff.

brewdog's one is nice. I drank a few bottles on an 18 month alcohol hiatus and was pleasantly surprised at how hoppy and ale like it was. Nanny state it's called. It's actaully 0.5% so not alcohol free.

It can be below a vertain ABV to be declared alcohol free, rather like 'sugar free', but I'm not sure what the limit is.

Nanny State was perfectly pleasant when I tried it. Reviews online are mixed, but it was indeed nicely hoppy and bitter.

I don't drink alcohol, but I actually like the taste of non-alcoholic beer...

Favourites are Erdinger, Cobra Zero and Bavaria, but will drink Becks Blue, etc.

For me, it's just another soft drink that doesn't taste horrifically sweet. So I like it on that basis. :)

I'd consider drinking non alcoholic beer, if they reduced the price of it by what the duty is on the good stuff.

For those of you saying the brewdog one is good..

Initially it is, it has good aroma and a real punch of hops with a malty hit. Then it just falls straight off a flavour cliff and leaves you with no finish at all. Tried it and really disliked it.

Personally if I was looking for a non alcoholic drink I'd avoid a no alcohol beer in general.

Best I've had (if you can find them) is Cobra non alcoholic and when I was on holiday in Portugal once their Sagres Zero is very drinkable but quite a heavier taste to it compared to the Cobra which I'd almost (almost) say is as nice as the alcohol version.

Worst has to be Becks or Kaliber - gut rot

Just got some bavaria o.o% off the back of this thread. won't be buying non alcoholic beer for a while I think. Its not even close to tasting the same tbh...

That's for people who don't like beer.

I had some nanny state tonight and I can't complain, I think I'd take their dead pony at 3.8% if I had the choice, but if I was driving I'd be perfectly happy to drink this all night (far preferable to coke). Quite pricey for a 330ml bottle though, considering they aren't paying the duty you would on a higher strength beer.

I've had the erdinger free before, it's not bad, the clove taste helps to mask the loss of alcohol. Becks blue is so so, drinkable, same with the cobra.

Also, I quite like the 0.5% ciders tesco and sainsburies do - they're not apple juice because you still have a slight dryness. Chilled on a hot day they're pretty effective - great bbq fodder for the drivers.
