noob allert! router via ethernet

hi all, im just looking for a quick runthrough of how to get on the net via a router connected by ethernet.

i got given a voyager205 router and its miles better than the freebe thing i have, i tryed yesterday but i just couldnt get on the net with it and had to re install my freebe modem.

Connect the Telephone line to the Router
Then connect the Router to you PC via Ethernet Cable

The reason you couldn't get Online with the Router, is because you have not put the correct settings into it.

In your Internet Browser, type in 192.168.2.1
This should load the Routers settings page
Then find out the settings from your ISP and put them in :)
 
ok,,

im now connected but my speeds have been slow since my connection was activated,, i just ran the diagnostic tool for the router and got this

Connected to computer PASS
Synchronised with ADSL line PASS
Connected to ADSL local exchange FAIL
PPPoE Server N.A.
Connected and authenticated to ISP PASS
Connection to Internet PASS


any ideas??
