Are there any good GPU overclocking guides for a 5870? That goes into a lot of detail on how to do it. Every guide i find is lacking in detail or just tells you what settings worked for them (mostly with maximum voltage). Every OC i do in overdrive (even auto O'c) ends up with errors in OCCT-_-. I dont really want to change the voltage untill i know exactly what im doing :) thank you!

Your card will be fine taking up to 1.35v as long as it is properly cooled by the fan.

Raise the speed and if you get errors, raise the voltage by one notch until the errors go away.

Just so that you know, OCCT is extremely hard on graphics cards and you will get errors on that when the card is 100% game stable, most people use some sort of intensive benchmark left on loop for a good couple of hours to really stress test an overclocked card.

like furmark? and ty! you have just taught me more than 2 hours research on the net last night! -_-

I was pondering whether to suggest furmark or not, it is actually not very good at finding errors, I had to raise my GPU core voltage by 2 or 3 notches from furmark stable to game stable since furmark actually just makes the graphics card run at its highest wattage but does not stress it like a game will! I thought it was strange too when I first read it but hey!

Good luck in clocking your card, shoot for 1000mhz! :)

Ahh..i wont be using furmark then lol! Well i did manage to get it to 1000Mhz using Afterburner + settings i found on youtube.. but the heat got upto 78 pretty quick on 48% fan speed (with good old furmark) so decided to leave it till i knew a bit more! (or got a watercooling unit for for gpu cooling!) May have another go later ;)
P.s any good suggestions for a GPU stress test thats any good? :D

well..just ran it on a crysis benchmark on V high settings 5 loops and only got upto 75c :D at 1000Mghz with 1.35volts..:D
