Okey guys, need some help.

Going to build a new computer in the next few weeks.

I was pretty much set on a AMD Athlon 64x 4200+ but now looking on here I'm wondering about the Intel Pentium Core 2 Duo E6300

My Budget over all is about 600-700. for the whole comp.

I'm going to be running a single 7900GT looking to upgrade to apair in SLi

Just wondering what will be better, as i will be overclocking and being used for games.

Cheers

Intel all the wayt.

I just got 3 x 6300 based pcs for work £685 each and they had 76GB raptor hard disks and ATI x1300 gfx cards.

Swap the raptor for a normal HD and you have money for a better gfx card :)

Welcome to the forums,

Ask yourself some questions to help you decide.

Do you want to destroy any AMD currently available?
Do you want amazing FPS in games?
Do you want fantastic video encoding times?
Do you want awsome multi tasking perfromance?
Do you want to overclock?
Do you want to have a cpu faster than AMD's flagship cpu for £130 ?

If the answer to all these questions is yes then go for

CORE 2 DUO :D

forgot to say MUST be SLI compatable.

You only have one choice at the moment, the motherboard in your list. Unless you use hacked drivers on the 975 chipset motherboard but the performance isnt as good as it should be.
