I have been out of phone wizz for the last 18 months now. I just got an N95 8gb. I want to browse the net on 3G so I have checked on the network settings and its on dual however it stays on GSM (icon top left tells me) Is 3G not available to all areas still? Another question...I have the o2 online bolt on for free net so what WAP setting shall I select, o2 postpay WAP?

cheers

Not everywhere has 3G. Only cities and large towns give decent coverage. I cant get it where i am. Also the N95 has wifi so you can use that if you have it at home.

As for the bolt-on, i would have assumed all the settings came preset when you put the O2 sim card in. Not sure on them myself, but a quick Google search should get you what your looking for.

Yeah, been using wifi fine. Thanks for the info about 3G :)

About the settings, I got a text and installed the settings though when I go to change connection I get the choice:

Wifi
o2 mms
o2 mobileweb
o2 postpay mms
o2 postpay WAP
o2 video

Im thinking mobileweb is the one I need when i cant get wifi yeah?

:)

Hi there. I'm another N95 owner with 3. And I've got a great noob question. How do I display my own number? Is there any way to do this. I upgraded from a Motorola V3x (which was a fantastic phone) which could display my own number in just two button pushes. I can't find how to do this with the N95. It's a bugger when I'm trying to give people my mobile number.

You should be using O2 MobileWeb for 3G or HSDPA speeds and for full internet and email.

O2 postpay wap (and those others) uses the wap.o2.co.uk APN which is for viewing WAP pages only and has limited speed.

I saved mine in my phone book as couldn't find out how to either.

You can get it by doing the following -

Contacts > Options > Sim Contacts > Sim Directory > Options > My Numbers

Personally I'd create a new contact and save it in there. Much quicker. Alternatively, get memorising.

Surely memorise it?

How long have you had your sim card for?

Some older sim cards do not support 3g, pop into an O2 store and they should change free of charge...

Hmm I think this might be the problem :D I have had the same sim for years. Can I still go into an o2 shop even though im with o2 ONLINE?

Have you turned on 3g? My phone was natively switched to gsm when I first got it.

tools>settings>phone>network>network mode - make sure "dual mode" is selected.
