Ok well this is my first post, im not sure how friendly you guys are to complete and utter noobs but here goes, hopefully someone will be nice :D

Ok i have about 1000-1100 to spend on a new PC , maby more depending on how much i sell my laptop for (dell xps m1710) ... The main reason for me wanting to do my first build is that i play a lot of xbox 360 and want a new screen capture device, at the moment i use something called a 'hauppauge hd pvr' and i want to upgrade to a "black magic intensity pro" . So yeah the BMI pro has quite specific components that it likes and dislikes so i want the pc to cater mainly to that, rendering hd video files in sony vegas , and the odd gaming session ... other then that ill be using the pc for university work, browsing etc.

Straight from the BMI site itself :
Processor

Intel Core 2 Duo 2.5 Ghz or better
Intel i5-750 2.66 Ghz or better
Intel i7-860 2.8 Ghz or better
Verified Motherboards

Asus P5Q Pro
Intel DG45ID
Intel DQ45CB
Gigabyte GA-EP41-UD3L
Gigabyte GA-P55-UD5 (rev 1.0)
DFI Lanparty JR GF9400-T2RS
Intel X58 based motherboards are current not recommended.
Verified Systems

HP xw4600
HP xw8600
HP Z400
HP Z800
RAM

2 Gb for Windows XP
4 Gb for Windows Vista
Graphics Card

Blackmagic Ultrascope requires a graphics card that supports OpenGL 2.1 or better. The following graphic cards have been verified to be compatible:

Nvidia GeForce 9600 GT1
Nvidia GeForce 9800 GT
Nvidia GTS 250
Nvidia Quadro FX 4800
ATI Radeon HD 4650
ATI Radeon HD 4670
ATI Radeon HD 4680
ATI Radeon HD 4870

Thanks to anyone who has the time to help with this id appreciate a lot, ill be building with my uncle but hes out of the country at the moment ! thanks overclockers

Well for graphics cards look at a pair of Palit GTS 250's, I have just bought a pair and they are excellent. £170 the pair I might add :) But if you choose to have them or equivalent, make sure you get a top end power supply, as rendering requires a lot of power. Akasa do the Power Max 850W for about £110, again good value. On the processors, I am AMD through and through, so would be looking at the mid range quad cores. Motherboard, processor, heatsink/fan and ram bundles are worth looking at, about £200-300 per bundle. Ram I would make sure you get 4Gb minimum, as the more the faster lol. If I was choosing from your list this is what I would choose...Intel i7-860 2.8 Ghz or better, DFI Lanparty JR GF9400-T2RS, 4 Gb Ram and finally Dual Nvidia GTS 250 Hope that helps a little for you :) and most people on here don't mind helping. We were ALL NOOBS once LoL.

isn't that dfi board a socket 775 board?

Anyways going solely on what options you have proposed i'd go:

Gigabyte GA-P55-UD5 (rev 1.0)
i5
4 gig ram
radeon 4870 (OcUK doing these nice and cheap now)
500w good brand PSU
plus whatever you need for optical and HDD

However i find it hard to believe the software works with just that hardware and nothing else. Do they have any contact details? If so get a rig specced that you like then send them that spec and see what they say as you really are limiting your options there with that set of components.

EDIT: After inspecting that list of components further i'm even more sceptical as i'm pretty sure an ati 4680 does not exist. Seriously get in touch with them for a more up to date list.

Open gl2.1 is supported by all the newer cards I'm sure.

This is what i thought but seeing as he's building his rig around this specific piece of software it's best to check with them i suppose. Personally i can't see why they're so specific on mobos, RAM, etc. I imagine it's because they couldn't be bothered to test everything so just listed what they did.
