Noob question about connecting 560 ti

Hello peeps,,,,

I have a comp on the way with a 560 ti gpu. It comes with dual link DVI. I currently have a an old viewsonic VP171s with a DVI single link connection. I have the DVI single link cable!

Do i need to buy a new lead to connect the 560 ti to the VP171s? OR, will the DVI single link work ok!?

IF it wont work, Which lead do I need??

A single link DVI cable will fit into a dual link port.

Just not the other way around.

Cheers for that, with a bit harder research i found out that A dual link DVI is for higher resolutions..

The single link can go up to 1080....

Yep, dual link is only needed for higher resolutions or 1080p @ 120Hz
