Noob Question about dual core 939's

Forgive me, I have been away from hardware for ages.

I have a single core 939 chip running in a DFI NF4 board. Like many people on here I am considering my last 939 upgrade which I hope will take me through to Crysis & SC2 e.t.c.

Can I just stick a dual core 939 in my current board or will I need a dual core mobo to take advantage of the extra core?

Thank you in advance for your awesomeness,

Yep, will work fine. Make sure you flash to the latest stable BIOS (after making sure it supports the dual) before switching the chip.

You may or may not need to re-install Windows. The system may run fine without it, but it's advisable to do a re-install to be on the safe side ;)

You almost certainly won't need to re-install windows. Just un-install the AMD processor driver prior to making the switch (assuming you have it installed in the frist place) then after the switch, re-install the processor driver. Then reboot & your dual cores should be recognised.
If you didn't know already, pressing ctrl alt delete & going to the performance tab allows you to check f the dual core is recognised ; the box at the top should be divided in two if it is.
It is also a good idea to install the AMD dual-core optimser (find it on their site) although if it runs fine anyway, then this step may be unnecessary.

I did that when I went from a 3700+ to 4200+
I tried everything inc a manual hive (?) update using guides online but nothing worked so I just said sod it and re-installed XP Fresh :p

Vista is obviously more better suited to hardware upgrades
