hey guys i have just got a new seagate 80gb sata 300 drive and i want to set it up on the sata 2 controller on my mobo, but i havent got a clue were to start.
You will not need a floppy disk with that board unless your using the silicon image controller (red sata connector).
Make sure you have the 1103 or 1205 bios from asus, as the 1009 does not work correctly with sata (i haven't tried the 1205 but i assume it works). If you need help updating the bios let me know.
Then plug the drive into one of the black sata ports and it should be recognised in the bios.
You need to set it up in the bios if you want to install windows on it and boot from it, if not just plug it in and boot into windows.
Then go to ctrl panel/admin tools/computer management/disk management, select the new sata drive and format it.
