Got my SSD today Samsung 840 basic 120gig, I just connected it up to my mobo and turned my PC on cant see my SSD any where now, I dont want to do a clean install on windows because i dont have the CD.

I cant seem to access my SSD cant find it on the pc all i can see is my standard hard drive, Also installed Samsung SSD magician. Any help is much appreciated.

click start/right click my computer/manage/storage/disk management

see if the ssd shows up in there,if it does right click it and create a simple volume

it will then show up in windows

clone it with macrium reflect

choose hdd as source and ssd as target drive

you might need to expand the partition after in windows

if your operating system data is larger than your ssd, your best do a clean install on the ssd

I'd recommend doing a clean install and googling Sean's Windows 7 Install & Optimization Guide for SSDs & HDDs.

PCs always feel lovely after a fresh install.

Without hijacking thread, I will get my SSD from OC in a few days, as my computer is only a few days old, so I guess I will not need a fresh install?

If you are using Windows 7 you can download an ISO image from Digital River of your version to burn to disk using ImgBurn, e.g. links provided by HeiDoc.net.
