Noob Xbox arcade questions

Can I use a laptop drive?

Can I use a USB drive?

Can HDD be fitted to the arcade version?

No you can't use a laptop drive of your own. Well, strictly speaking you can get a Western Digital BEVS drive and hack it but you still need the enclosure from another 360 drive to be able to do it, plus this may be a potential Xbox Live ban risk so it's not worth it if you ask me. You can pick up 120GB drives for around £50, or you should still be able to get a refurb 20GB HD with 3 months of Xbox Live straight from MS for £20.

You can use a USB drive but only for media playback. You cannot save/install games to anything other than a 360 hard drive or memory card, nor can you download demos to anything else.

All 360 consoles are identical* aside from bundled accessories and the colour of the casing, so yes, the hard drive port is still present on the Arcade.

* I'm aware that the new 360 Arcade Jasper-based motherboards have 256MB of onboard storage as opposed to a memory card and the Pro/Elite Jaspers only have the standard 16MB flash, but that's not a visible change on the outside :)

Sorry mate, just skimmed the thread, its half 2 and im half asleep :p:o

I might be able to sell you gears 2 LCE if a mate of mine doesnt want it.

Ill edit my post if the above is inappropriate.

Get as many games as you can now because they are very very cheap. Some top games about available for under 20 quid. Some off the top of my head are forza 2, pgr3 and 4, grid, gears1, halo 3, crackdown, saints row1/2, gta.

Maybe get the hd-dvd drive unless youve got a ps3. Theres some good films that are available for 3 quid.
