I have a very noobie question for everyone. Is it common practice too build a loop but not include the gpu in it, effectively only cooling the cpu?
The only reason i ask is that i recently had my gpu replaced after it developed a fault but I was given a different version. I had a GIGABYTE 1070 FE card and was given a 1070 G1 card. As the card isn't compatible with the original block I had, I purchased the appropriate EK G1 block, but then found out it is only compatible with the rev 1 card where as I have the rev 2.
I was a little disappointed to find that EK haven't and won't be making a full block for rev 2 but i know that bitspower and barrows have compatible blocks. Only downside to this is that I could be waiting a minimum of 45 days for either block to arrive if purchased.
As I detest my current cpu cooler, would it be ok to set up my loop just for the cpu and add the gpu later?
I have tried selling the card and looked at upgrading to a 1080 thats compatible with the G1 block I still have but the best offer I had was £430 which i thought was rather cheap for a card that retails new at £620.
What do you guys reckon?
TIA
