Noooooo :(

How are the temps on those 9800GTs? My dual-slot (:() 9800GT doesn't ever hit 60ºC now the CPU heat is out of the case but the single-slot 8800GT has to have fans on near full to stay below 85ºC :( Currently on 91% fan speed and 83ºC.
I'm tempted to let it run 10ºC hotter and have the fans a bit lower - but being an NVIDIA card, it may then just keel over and die!

Edit:  According to wiki, even the less-power-hungry 55nm 9800GTs have a TDP of 105W. x4 = 420W, add in 135W for a G0 Q6600 at stock volts (1.2V) + 3.4GHz and you're already at 555W before anything else!

Well a quick Google suggests there is a 'green' edition at 63W, but that uses no supplementary power connectors. Also, it's simply underclocked to achieve the low power consumption. Have you mysteriously got some of those with the additional power connectors?

OK OK so I'm getting old and forgetful but it was over a year ago! :o

So actually I'm pretty sure now that the CPU was at stock or just a light overclock (maybe 2.8). It wasn't until I watercooled it that I started pushing the CPU.

Also checked the reciepts and it was 4 x 9600GSO cards, sorry :)

Using the power calculator I'm just under at around 500-540W but what I was trying to show was its worth getting a decent PSU from Corsair or Seasonic or Coolermaster. :p

New PSU is in and the system is fine. Thankfully nothing got crozzled when the last one blew! I had a look inside the old one and I spotted a wire with a chunk missing! Judging from the flash I saw it looks like it completely vapourized!

My Q6600 and two GPU clients are back to folding too! Looking at the voltages with everything running and they aren't so much as twitching. Properly impressed with the Corsairs.

Currently my personal PPD is at 30K according to HFM. That should go up a bit once the three clients get new WUs, they're a bit behind! :p

Stelly is running at 20+K the last I heard. :)

Barring anymore catastrophes, of course! Can't believe it has taken me about a week, several driver installs, tweaks and a fried PSU to get the two GPU clients going on this machine lol!

Oh well, it's for a cause

Come on you slacker! I spent 10 minutes writing those step-by-step instructions the other night! :(:p

I know, I know, but with a house, gf, dog and gf's family I have a lot on... believe me if there was another way I would gladly do it!

Stelly
