Normal amount of IPS bleed/glow?

It's extremely difficult to say via those photos, but purely going on what I can see I'd say that's pretty bad . I own 2 ips monitors and had a mare trying to get good ones, especially ultrawide. I'd at least try again.

How many monitors did you have to go through? it's the acer af270hua.

I disagree it looks rather good considering the current quality. I've seen a lot worse. When you mean "at night" do you game with no lights on ? I can see this may show up more with no lights on. My bottom left corner shows up on camera more or less like yours yet at night I cant see it even when watching a film and I have a bedside light on.

No I tend to game at night with lights on. I noticed the yellow tint while playing metro and then turned the lights off to show you guys what was happening. There's is a small bleed on the right hand side of the screen but it's very very minimal.

During the day you can't see any bleed or glow at all.

Yeah its always near the LED/monitor controls that has the worst glow because they can never get the fitting right around the controls and the LED. You`d think they should at least get it right in that corner but it seems to occur on all the monitors I have owned.

I don't settle for anything other then near perfection in a monitor. Especially when I'm paying good amounts for them over cheaper options.
If you saw your monitor on show next to a good unit say at a shop on display you'd not settle on what you have probably Everyone is different but the screen is very important. If you pay good money for a good model don't settle.
You should be able to view your display before purchase and if not then retailer should expect returns if the unit isn't perfect or as near as damn it.

Ok So since the sun has gone down I've taken a second picture with calibrated settings (monitor actually looks better now) and with the lights on.

So in the picture it does exaggerate the glow but in reality the bottom right seems to have the standard IPS silver glow and isn't noticeable unless in dark areas at night, the other 3 corners have little to 0 glow at all even when sat right in front of the screen. I got the xf270hua for £395, and from what I've described and the pictures I've shown do you think there's a better chance I'll get a worse monitor than this, compared to better? Seems when it comes to IPS i might have to RMA 10+ times to get a "perfect" one, especially at this price range or even at the £650 range (asus pg27).

0 dead, stuck or bright pixels. Also I pulled the bezel where the bleed was and it's pretty much got rid of it, I legit have to get right up to the screen to see it.

Thats ok if you live near a shop or online seller that has the model you want but thats usually not possible for most people its a buy and hope job, it shouldnt be like this but it is and it will never change unless people vote with their wallets. Which we know wont happen.

From experience you could definitely get a worse one. Read some of the old threads on here and you will see people swapping 5,6,7 times and getting mixed bag each time.

hmm, to RMA this monitor I have to send it back since I didn't get from amazon. it does seem from looking at other peoples IPS monitors mine lands on the better side as I only have 1 corner with noticeable glow at night in dark scenes. Kind of worried that I send this back in the hope of getting 0 glow in all corners I may end up getting a worse monitor and have to RMA 5,6,7 times in the hopes of getting the perfect IPS panel :/.

I quite fancy a 32" screen especially with gsync compatible screens becoming more evident if I can find the space but it just puts me off with the panel lottery.

Well coming from a 1080p 240hz monitor this acer xf27 is stunning in terms of colours and the response time is pretty good too. Only draw back for me is the glow in one corner as my monitor has 0 dead + stuck pixels and has no backlight bleed anymore but I'm assuming over time I'll just become accustomed to it. From reading online it seems I'm quite lucky to only have that 1 flaw and it's my first every IPS monitor.

Personally I won't go over 27" until I move to 4k in 3+ years. Free sync/g sync compatible is good but there is that opportunity for tearing when the monitor switches to LFC under the standard free sync range. As much as I hate to say it G sync still has a pretty nice over over free Sync + LFC

There is that £900 4k 144mhz screen from Acer but I would never buy from them and the only other one is the ASUS which is £1800. I cant see any solid news of further 4k 144mhz IPS Gsync screens coming onto the market.

Personally I've never had an issue with acer and their products. My mate has the 4k asus 144hz HDR monitor and it's great, although they're releasing a refresh of that monitor very soon. Personally the amount of GPU horsepower he needs to power that monitor is ridiculous and not worth it atm.

The situation of poor panel uniform and or defects is way too high. They shouldn't leave the factory unless it meets a standard.
What they do with the given defective ones (possibly 40%) then it should be a wake up call to sort out bad manufacturing
Selling online which unfortunately is the most common way of purchasing a pc monitor doesn't give the rights to ship out units that are not on parity with each other. If one unit has a good manufacturer and no screen bleeds, defects or dead pixels is sold for a given price then every one should be of similar quality.
It boils down to your test of strength as to wether you play the lottery and buy and return loads till you get one that's up to spec.
I've returned not that many considering how many I've had since 2003 (lcd type screen's) but I'm pretty sure 50% of them have had defects on delivery or Aquired them within the first year or two.
Last 4 years however I've only purchased 3 and 2 out of the 3 units were screen fault free (of any type, bleed, pixels, etc etc). The 3rd screen I returned twice till I got a unit that was clearly fine and the others clearly were not.
I've had several tvs in the last 7 years. Many of them were not fault free. I probably am the bain of any retailers who sell screens but I pay good money and everyone should expect a standard and defect free on delivery.
I understand the difficulties in making thousands of screens fault free but ones, that don't measure up. Sell them cheap or to the partially blind I don't care but I require units that don't have defects.

Not sure about the yellow. That doesn't sound right. It's very hard to show via pictures...so many variables.

But yellow is not good.

With my living room light on its i grey/silver glow at the bottom right (at night time only when the monitor is displaying a dark scene). I'm more concerned that if I return this I'll get a worse one then have to RMA multiple times just to get one at the same level as the one I currently own.

I'll take 2 videos tomorrow night showing the monitor with light on and off and let you guys share further opinions.

Just wondering, how many IPS xf270hua monitors would I have to go through to get a near perfect IPS monitor? 5-10?

^^^^ As you have noted you could disappear down a rabbit hole of despair with that one.
I understand your thoughts on sharing a video but the bottom line is with you and what you feel is acceptable.
It really is a panel lottery when it comes to finding an acceptable monitor.
The most important part of buying a new monitor is ensuring that the retailer you go with is very flexible and accommodating for returns.
It might be possible with some retailers to get your replacement monitor before you need to send the first one back, if that's what you decide.

Just took some pictures on 100% and 21% brightness.

I'm not sure what it is but yeah the bottom right has a yellow ips glow that's kinda intrusive :/. I may try to return/RMA. if the bottom right corner was like the rest I'd be 100% happy.

Here's some pictures taken at night with lights on. PS ignore the yellow reflection of the left of my monitor that's just a reflection of my wall.
