I hardly think the power consumption of the sidelights of much importance in all honesty. People buy them because they like the blue colour...

the difference in current draw will save a rediculously.........small amount of money, probably pence over a whole year.

Get some Philips Blue Vision bulbs (not sure if that is the correct name or not, but something to that effect).

LEDs are far more reliable than standard filament bulbs

So long as you read the data-sheet and choose a suitable current limiting resistor.

And a very toasty resistor. That would be dissipating around 5 watts, so something like a 10 Watt resistor is going to be needed.

Or 10 x 2.7 Ohm 1 Watt resistors in series.

You'll probably find you can only buy resistors in 10s anyway.
