Normal speed for raid 0 raptors?

that's rather low..

iirc, the 36's throughput is about 75/80MB/s, so you should be hitting closer to 200MB/s max read theoretically.

Do you have the drives partitioned? 36GB x 3 doesn't equal 74GB ;)

I thought it was low too.
I dont know why it reads as 74gb in hd tune either as in windows its 68.9gb the same as what it let me set the created volume to in my bios

2x36gb raptor 10,000rpm = 68.9GB raid 0 1 partition (Windows)
1 TB samsung sinpoint f1

Raided using bios

Edit - in hdtune it also wont let mee do a write test saying please remove all partitions?

I have to say with my two raptors - I'm getting the same speed and almost identical HD Tune results with my RAID0 setup. I'm pretty sure that's what it is.

ok thanks for info greenlizard. Is there any advantage to setting raid up in windows drivers > bios?

Any tweaks that i can apply to speed them up even more?

I'm not certain - check to see other people's benches in the giant hard drive bench thread. I think it's someway back now unless people have stuck in their SSD ones too.

I was getting better results with a couple of 80Gig Seagate 7200.10s back in the day. Min speed was similiar but max was ~150 and avg was in the upper 120s.

I am assuming that your 36GB raptors are the 16MB cache versions, if so, that is on the low side, with 2 x 36GB (16MB) raptors in RAID0 (on ICH10R), stripe 32KB,, I was getting reads of 144MB/s in HDTune and 156MB/s in HDTach..

However, if they are the 8MB cache version, then that probably would be about right...

hmmm, i dunno what ichr its on and its the 36gb 16mb cache 10k rpm - i simply set options to raid in bios and configured them as 1 drive on raid 0 in bios.

They were formatted already and are on a seperate power connection to my other HD and sata DVD drive if that helps

Edit - what size stripe size have you used within HD Tune. I'm getting similar results as you (Lighters), but when I choose a larger than 32kb size I get results like jbloggs.
