North Bridge Chipset Voltage / Temperature?

I have a Asus Blitz Extreme (P35 board)
What voltage can I stick through the north bridge? I Know when Webbo had this board he put 1.71v through NB, but he was on water.

Should I worry about voltage or just about temp?
What would you say max volts on air? Or max temp?
Does the NB get hoter on load? (If so what should I use to measure its temp?) In bios shes showing 36C (But thats Idel)

Cheers

My board shows 10 degrees LOWER in BIOS than what it idles in windows.

Download EVEREST Ultimate trial version, and tell us what your NB (SPP) temps are when booted into windows.

Also, make a note of them after gaming for a while. Also, what voltage are you currently using?

Well, you can see that you temps have jumped up 12 degrees just by booting into windows. This is normal, as the NB is doing nothing much when in BIOS, but is getting worked a little bit when in windows.

Do you know what sort of temps your NB is after several hours of gaming? (Gaming puts a fair bit of load on your NB, other than just surfing the net). Some chips can heat up more than others, mine idles in windows at 50, but during gaming can rise to around 54-56.

But since your around the 50 mark already, I wouldn't go much higher to be honest. As I said, monitor during gaming. I think you can give the NB a little bit more, but don't take my word for it as I am unfamiliar with the P35 chipset.

cje- Thank you.

That data was on load running folding at home smp client and gpu client. So whole system maxed out. Thanks for teh rough idea of keeping in 50's, il make sure I dont go over that. Tho NB voltage is holding my overlocking back sadley.

No probs mate. I am in the same boat as you. I cannot get over 1333 fsb as anything above that and I'll need a little bump up in NB. But I can't because of temps. It's my fauilt as my board is supposed to be watercooled, but I am not watercooling it. :D

Also, bear in mind that unless you have a fan blowing at the NB (or good airflow in your case), your temps might increase gradually. Check it after a good few hours folding.

I always ran Far Cry 2 to test out NB stability, as that game, above all other games I had, always froze if I had NB problems (or RAM, but that's another matter).

Thanks. Just seems a pain this is holding me back.

Anyone any experience of P35 chips? What temp can I let it go to for 24/7 folding? Going to have a look at my cooling of it this weekend see If I can get it down abit.

Well my current X38 board is watercooled but the Northbridge runs at 1.55V and never goes over 35C.

For the Asus, I didn't constantly monitor temps, but when first setting it up it never went over 55C. Not sure if it got hotter as time went on or not.

EDIT:- Just read your opening post properly, I think for 24/7 use and long as it's coolish (sub 55-60C) I'd be happy for it to run up to 1.6v (regardless if you're under air or water). However Webbo running 1.71v I imagine was for his Q6600 @ 4.0/4.1Ghz etc benching runs.

Temps are what you need to worry about (unless your pumpimg some crazy volts). I know people who water cool my board with nearly 1.6v on the NB, but they keep temps down.

Obviously that an increase in voltages will get you an increase in temps as well.
But as long as you keep an eye on temps you should be fine. Since your on air, you won't be able to raise NB voltage too much anyway, as your temps will get high as well.

I do not know what temps a P35 is ok to run at 24/7.
