Just wondering? There's a sale on in Blacks at the moment and im quite tempted to replace my thick faux-wool coat, as its just too hot/bulky on the tube and not actually waterproof. I tried on the Evolution tri-climate which was very nice. Will it be warm enough for our coldest weather here? How do NF compare to other brands? I tried on the Berghaus but it felt a lot cheaper to be honest..

Thanks :)

Can't say I would buy one for the 'fashion' of it but they are incredibly practical and well made.

SuperDry are form over function as far as I'm concerned but are certainly more fashionable than North Face.

Depends what you care about I suppose.

Not really fashionable anymore but their tech ski and snowboard stuff is good. I have an orange North Face Gore-Tex snowboard jacket from many moons ago and it is amazing quality. Spilled a glass on red wine on it once and it just rolled straight off.

Berghaus is the win. or go for columbia

Funny you should say that. I work in tv/film and its actually a running joke that everyone on set wears NF! I assumed it was partly fashion but also the practical-ness of being out in the elements all day. I like Superdry's fitted style but I want something that actually works as an outdoor jacket!

Edit: I DON'T work out on set :p

North Face are great coats/jackets. They're well made and damn warm - though yeah, wearing them on the bus for a fashion statement? Riiight.

Berghaus are great too.

I'd throw Helly Hansen into the mix as well :)

My ski jacket that I got 10+ years ago is still going strong today! Well worth the money even I'd had just a quarter of its life time!

North Face jackets are 'cool' still, have been for a long time and will continue being so as long as you purchase a decent looking basic one and wear it with other appropriate 'cool' items.

Super Dry is not 'cool'.

I've heard some pretty good things about their jackets.. and their boots are fairly good.

Alternatively, Berghaus are good and Craghoppers make some good jackets.

I wouldn't really buy anything for a fashion statement, I don't know quite why this thread has gone down that route :p I want something lightweight, warm and waterproof. The 3in1 aspect seems perfect too, as a decent waterproof in the summer wouldn't go amiss.

As far as fashion goes. The style of them suit me, and that's as far as I'll go :p

It's not related to your purchasing of one, just that everyone has noticed North Face being like what Timberland was a while ago.

I thought my hiking jacket from Tog24 was pretty good although I'm not all that up on explorer gear, I did note that the expensive (£180+) North Face gear was pretty well put together and had some nice technical features.

Super Dry is for chavs btw.

I've got a bunch of TNF stuff (jackets, jumpers, boots, hat and gloves), as I like the materials, fit and finish. I have the Evolution Triclimate from a couple of years ago, I find it's fine for winters in SE England when worn over a T-shirt and jumper.

I couldn't give a **** what other people think about my clothing.
