North Korea launch "satellite"

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-asia-20690338

So... weather satellite or disguised missile test?

Clearly it's both as the technology required to launch a satelite into space is increadibly similar to that required for a long range missile, sputnik the first ever satelite was afterall put into space on top of an ICBM.

The real question is should North Korea be allowed by the rest of the world to develop and test a missile capable of delivering a nuclear warhead to mainland America? The world clearly thinks this is a bad idea as it may limit our ability to bully North Korea, for the first time instead of being dismissed as a bunch of cheap talking nutjobs they would have a big stick to backup their position.

What will come of it? Nothing America and the west will pretend to be outraged China will publicly condem the test and then all will return to normal as yet nobody considers North Korea to be a real threat, however it does look like the time is approaching when the rehtoric of the west may need to be turned into action if they want to keep Noth Korea off the nuclear armed list.

Lol, I had to laugh when I seen the BBC report on this this morning, the video footage of the North Korean News reporter looked like it was shot in the 1980s so I cant image the satellite is very technologically advanced as they dont appear to have even mastered any sort of High res filming equipment.

Thats what they want you to think.. ;)

There is that, however you don't need mega tech to detonate a nuclear war head, just good chemistry and physics knowledge, the act of detonation is straight forward.

I don't want to sound all American 'lets kill it with fire' but im seriously hoping the x37 is on the satellites tail and is armed with something that could really bugger anything NK launches, if NK did do something stupid that is ! lol

Maybe that's what the US air force is doing, testing space based interception tech, good to have something to do that, can be serviced and launched again soon after.

china and american already have destroyed their own satelites with missiles

USA shot down an old spy satellite and china shot down an old weather one

I'm sure if the tech and practice is there to have shot down your own satellite then it wouldn't be a world away to get rid of someone else's, I doubt short notice has anything to do with it as I expect USA or China already know if it's possible to destroy N.KS sat.

Just depends of the consequences of doing just that, although I sure it's much easier to destroy it before it ever gets outside the atmosphere..

Again consequences of doing just that are unknown to us.
