North Korea travel blog

Just read part 3 and loved it :)

Did you guys notice the 'special' tour that Lupine have next year in Chernobyl?

*checks the web site* Oh they must have sold it out now. They were giving permission to tour the Duga 3 (in Prypiat) and a reactor tour too but only for 2 days in February I think. I looked really really interesting :)

Whey and it's going ahead! One day in the zone going to Duga and Reactors 5&6. Mega-chuffed!

There is no problem getting into the US with an Iranian visa stamp provided you have a sensible explanation when questioned on arrival in the US.

Nice one thanks :).

The ones I'm in the middle of planning at the moment are Iraq and another trip back to Chernobyl and onto Belarus (which is proving a challenge to do on the cheap!). I'll write some blurb about how I worked out an affordable trip to Minsk soon.

If it's of any use I went to Belarus fairly cheaply a few years back. Went with a few mates for the England football match. We flew into Warsaw and then got a night train to Minsk. Minsk itself was a surprisingly nice place, all the locals were also really really friendly. Might be worth looking into as opposed to direct flights.

I've ended up doing the same, I'm going Kiev-Minsk-Riga :).

Very good read. I had a similar evening post pool playing in the Yanggakdo hotel where some we managed to offend a local chappie for a reason beyond my ken. I think he was upset at us playing pool with the hostesses. We bailed on that night rather than cause any trouble. The bowling was hilarious.

Have a picture of some girl in a park who was then on the tele when I got back to the hotel that night:

5 years ago now, hope they have a major regime change soon.

It turned out to be pretty serious but I need to be careful with how I write it as I can't really identify the guy from the group, it later emerged he was a journalist.

Whooh, no way...you can forget sometimes that they are not all that liking on international tourists and they are not that hot on western journalists either are they?

Oh and good news on the Duga 3 tour :)

Journalists are technically banned from going unless they get a special visa that restricts their access even more than usual. Hence why they try and get on the regular tours.

I know its weird, but it doesnt look that bad... I mean looks pretty neat compared to Bronx.. I thought North Korea would look like a soft-spot after bronx.... But I guess thats just penyoyang
