Northbridge cooler for MSI K8N Neo4 Platinum?

Hi, the fan on the northbridge cooler for my motherboard has become too loud and i'm wanting to replace it, i'd still a zalman on but would that be good enough to keep the northbridge cool enough + I doubt it will fit anyways as my x1800xt goes right over the edge of the current northbridge cooler covering it, a tall zalman one wouldnt fit.
I was wondering whats the best solution to this problem, is there a northbridge cooler out there designed for these kind of motherboards?

The zalman one should be fine, just bend or cut the offending pins

Yup, thats what I have done on my K8N Diamond. Had to remove 2 or 3 of the pins, but the cooling is still fine. The mobo stills does 315HTT with no problems.

Not sure, will be more difficult to cut/bend the pins though

just have a look at it, the way the thins are it comes in from the edge either way, did they do this because to avoid graphics cards hitting it? Maybe its compliant the way its built?

I've got a zalman vf900 on my x1800xt so maybe it will be fine, I think i'm going to get one.

I'd be interested to know if this fits. I turned the fan off on my MSi months ago because it had become so loud.

If you have the K8N Diamond, wit hthe southbridge/mosfet fan, then this can be safely unplugged with no adverse effects. And as mentioned the Northbridge fan runs fine with the older Zalman heatsink with a couple of the pins removed.

Thats what my board is. I've had no problems since disconnecting the fan, but i thought that if the Zalman fitted and since it doesnt cost a great deal th at i may try and fit one.

i'll post back here with pictures to see if the new zalman fits these boards just to let you lads know, its a fine looking heatsink though and fairly cheap also at around £8

Has anyone else seen the Thermalright HR-05? That looks like a decent bit of kit and should be able to cool even the most firey hot NF4 chipset well.

Thats way too tall to work on my motherboard, but it looks nice and probably will perform better than the new zalman if you can get it on your board without interfering with anything else.

Simple answer, it doesnt fit properly but with a little modification it fits fine, i only took a little of the aluminium off.
Your graphics card would have to have watercooling or a vf900 or you have no chance.
