Northbridge Cooling

I've an Asus P5B Deluxe WiFi AP that I've had the devil's own job getting stable at an overclock. I'm now reasonably stable at 7 x 400 and to get that I'm using 1.45v through the NB. This, IIRC, is one bump up from the lowest selectable NB voltage in the BIOS. I'm using the standard passive heatsink without the optional fan (which would howl like a banshee, I imagine).

Question is: is the northbridge going to be OK passively cooled with this voltage through it?

Thanks...

If you have good airflow in your case it should be ok. You could always get an Antec Spot cool or a Zalman fan bracket to give it some extra airflow.

I've stuck a 40mm Akasa fan on my NB and TBH I can't hear it.

I stuck a 80mm Akasa fan on my NB and bloody well can hear it! Annoys the hell out of me but I only use it when benching at 3.8Ghz.

Running at 3.4Ghz I don't need the extra cooling on the NB.
