errrrrrrrrrrrrr Wrong. unless your using a ZX spectrum.

And no im not a Norton fanboy, far from it.

I would just like to use a relatively efficient, light wait program.

From my experience Norton 2011 is not far behind Nod 32 in terms of computer

slow down, and 360 is not much different speed wise.

Kaspersky for me was far far worse, where people get the latest Norton

products as being bloat is mind numbing.

I used to hate Norton, but their latest products are very very good.

Ive just switched from MSE to NAV and i also still had the scar tisue left over from old norton builds.

But im actually pretty impressed so far.

It picked up on tracking cookies that MSE didnt bother to look at and found a suspect file in an old archive i had on one of my partitions.

Ive ran Custom PC benchmark suite before and after installing NAV, and there is little in the end scores.

I know HSBC offer McAfee Virus Scan Plus for 12 months (no idea if any good). And probably works the same as Barclays and Kaspersky, that you request a new product key when nearing expiry.

As for Norton renewing option, never use it. As Norton will charge you full RRP compared to getting a new licence from any online retailer. I used to buy OEM version instead.
 
I suppose your talking about Magic Lantern, it wasn't only whitelisted by Symantec but most other security vendors, so probably still is in effect.

That said, it's nothing to be concerned about.
 
Does Norton still require you to make an account? And no way to opt out of the reminder or cancel it with a single click?
 
Have to say MSE feels really bloaty of late looked in resource monitor and definitely culprit i have 6gb ram and still feeling it dont know what they done (Its even effecting startup desktop icons are delayed)

Giving Avast a go looks decent so far. :)
 
Go for MSE and if you're mum is that worried about internet banking use their software - most banks provide it free. I know I get prompted for it occassionally when visiting my online bank.
