Nostalgia (Commodore 64)

BRILLIANT!

I have lots of vivid memories of my C64 from back in the day.

Using my dads hifi to copy my mates games (god bless high speed dubbing).
Playing the likes of Operation Wolf and others.
The extremely long load times from cassette (and the frequent fails as well).

Just amazing. I never had the disc drive though, only the cassette drive.

Reminds me at work, we recently took on an ICT apprentice who is a consummate geek and is quite knowledgeable. He's 22. He was blown away by the very concept of a game/programme being stored on a cassette and that loading data into a computer.

Then again, he thinks 2 GB of RAM is "small" on a computer. When I told him we were dealing with less than 100 KB of memory he thought I was lying.

He absolutely not believe me when I pointed out my iPhone has more computing power than the supercomputers NASA used to put man on the moon.

Youth of today... :(

Original Elite, F16 Combat Pilot, Space Harrier - That is a seriously awesome compilation there.

Input magazine!

I remember typing in that maze game on the page you have open, for the then great dragon 32.

Few years ago, picked up a dragon and the entire collection of input.

The C64 was all about bombing round my mates house, ghost busters was amazing on that thing.

Wow. So many memories there. Of those I had:

Azimuth head alignment
Silent Service
Falcon Patrol
Kong
Hunchback
Bitmania
Book - Commodore 64 Machine Code Master (I still remember that cover)
Cheetah 125 joystick
The same Trackmaster diskette case
Trilogic Expert Cartridge
Escape MCP
Voodoo Castle
Frogger 64

Man thats brought back some memories, I had a C64 but the newer version - my best mate at the time had the same model as OP with the disk drive and an action replay so he could multi load tapes onto disk! It was amazing back then.

If I could show the games of today of the young me with my beloved C64 it would blow my mind!

I'm sure the other sites would be allowed, or will you only help people if you get free advertising for your own site?

Oh you mean the warning I got because I mentioned a Facebook group that one person was using a commercial site other than ocuk on it? Oh the horror! Any way I write about the C64 daily from the latest scene demos to the latest homebrew games. And not just the C64 either

But as I said enjoy the C64!

first off, deepest sympathies on the loss of your granddad.

but on to the C64....my oh my what memories....what joys. many many hours spent on the lord of the rings games. loved all those types of games - yea the graphical games were great, but your memory created so many of the images when playing the LOTR games.

go north, use axe, drop bucket...!!!! the joys

number of times I told my folks it was turned off only to sneak over to it when I was meant to be sleeping and trying to type quietly on it!

I was a only child for a little while and me and me sis C64, we have very fond memories. :D

Infiltrator, Pitstop 2 and Solo flight 2 were some of my favourite games. ;)

Condolences to OP. :(

Fire the beast up I bet she will still work. ;)
