Hi,
ive not built a pc in about 5 years and thought its about time i updated mine. I dont do a lot of gamming, well i play old games such as AOE 2, Roller Coaster Tycoon 2. I just need the pc for general useage really. My budget is around £400-500 but dont need monitor, keyboard, mouse or speakers.Ive had a look on the system builder and came up with these...

Nothing wrong with that build, the PSU is a little overkill, a 500w psu will do.

would you consider building it yourself?

To be honest I looked at a computer that built 7 years ago and there isn't much difference to it from the computers you get today.If you want some help look at the OCUK website and find the guide that can be found in the general hardware section. This is a video guide:http://vimeo.com/5685229

Well if you look at the spec in post #2

You will see that the phenom840 is on special offer.
The OCZ 500w psu is a great price.
OCZ ram is cheaper.

you dont need a heatsink, the retail will be fine.

Ive changed the processor as its on special like you said.
Dont mind a bit of overkill on the psu but dropped down to a 600w StealthXstream (£43.19)
Knocked off the heatsink as you say the retail 1 will be fine.
Changed the case too.
As far as the ram goes wont the Corsair ram be better quality than the ocz for the sake of £10?

Hmmmm, possibly, I do use corsair myself in all my builds, and never had a problem.

Lots of people use to complain about OCZ GOLD ram, but that was because the voltage was mis-labeled/or the SPD settings where set wrong or something like that, so it got a bit of a bad rep, but the OCZ above is different to the GOLD junk.
