Not getting 100% usage in games 3080fe

My 3080fe gpu isn't giving me 100%usage in games ..
In heaven benchmark It floats around 97% so I guess it's OK there.
Most games I've tried only give between 50-60% gpu usage running at 1440p 165fps.
The only game I've got close to 100%usage is cod cold war @98%...

Specs ; gpu 3080fe
Cpu 3900x
Ram 32gb 3000mhz
 
what refresh rate is your monitor?

If you're hitting the fps your monitor can handle and it only needs 60% GOU usage then that's a good thing for you - since it'll draw less power and require less cooling.
 
I wouldn’t worry, that’s a pretty high usage. They can’t always run at 100% in games just because that’s not how games tend to work anyway, they aren’t a benchmark that’s designed to stress test hardware. Their usage will fluctuate. That’s still a high enough percentage that it doesn’t sound like a big imbalance in the system, I would be happy with that.

*apologies, I just read it wrong! If you have a FPS limiter/cap set this could be why you are showing utilisation in games?

Yeah make sure you remove any fps limiter / vsync if you want to determine if GPU can be maxed out.
Also check cpu utilisation, if any thread is hitting 100% that could explain it.
 
I tested the **** out of my 3090 when I got it and know all the quirks.....

Turn HAGS on. With HAGS off my GPU usage is limited to about 97-98% max also. With it on I see 100% when required.
 
People are too focused on gpu usage these days

at this point it's a case of stop worrying about it, if your gpu runs at 60% that means you got 40% in the tank should the gpu need it for more demanding games so enjoy your high framerate and have fun

At current RTX graphics card prices I want every last drop of GPU performance and shouldn’t have to upgrade to a 5950X to see that.
 
Had a similar thing with my 3090 recently - FC6 was normal but BFV (DX11) and Firestrike were terrible. No idea what happened but DDU didn’t work. Fresh reinstall of Win10 solved it.

ETA seems like you aren’t having terrible framerates like I was, so probably just maxed FPS not needing 100%!

If your using Vsync and the games are not very demanding then your probably just capping out at the max speed your monitor can run, for instance with an uncapped frame rate Apex legends will run at 260fps on my 3080 with almost max GPU usage but if I cap fps to my 144hz monitor then it will only use 50% of the GPU.
