Not having a good day...black screen, no POST...pls help!

So as an update I have a new PSU coming. A Corsair 1000w model so no shortage of power hopefully. As far as getting into the BIOS is concerned, the only way I can do this currently is by asking Windows to shut down rather than restart, then turn the PC back on and press the DEL key. Any ideas?

Good to see that you have now bought a decent psu. Was the EVGA 600w the W1 white label? If so that is a HEC built hunk of junk and is highly unlikely to cope with your build, especially the spikes from the 3080. Never, ever skimp on the psu.

It could be Fast Boot bypassing the bit that allows you to do the prompt to enter the bios. Power down the pc and switch off at the mains and either clear cmos which will set everything to default or remove the bios battery for 10 minutes which will do the same.

You could also create a shortcut to restart and boot into the bios (I have done this myself). Right click a blank space on the desktop and select new shortcut. Copu and paste shutdown /r /fw /f /t 0 (last digit is zero) as the location. Hit next then name it whatever you like then finish. When you double click on it the pc should reboot into the bios.

I should have added that if I press restart then spam the DEL key one of the monitors begins to flash different colours, grey, white, blue then something that resembles a test pattern and this repeats until I press the power button to turn it off.

That didn't go so well either. I still needed to shut down in order to get into the BIOS. Here's a pic of what I saw when I just tried a restart then pressing the DEL key.

and a video of what happens normally

That picture on the screen looks like the Asus ROG logo to me. You haven't somehow managed to flash a Asus bios onto a MSI motherboard have you? Probably not as I don't even think that would be possible. Is it all new? Was the motherboard static bag sealed (my MSI board was). It is possible that you have a corrupt bios and as your bopard has bios flashback you can't make things any worse by downloading the latest bios which is 7E06vAA and can be downloaded here, rename it to MSI.ROM and stick it on a USB stick and plugging it into your bios flashback port (your manual ssays it's the bottom one of the two under the PS/2 port immediately below the bios flash button). You need to ensure that you have power to the motherboard but not trying to boot it so just on at the wall and nothing else. Press and hold your USB flashback button which is at the top of the board above the I/O panel until it starts flashing and let it do it's thing. Do not interrupt the power to the board. The light will go out when it's finished but give it a extra minute or two to make sure, it's probably not necessary but better to be safe than sorry.

If that fails strip everything down and examine everything for damage, pay close attention to the pins in the cpu socket incase any pins got damaged during installation, If the socket is ok reinstall the cpu using some fresh thermal material between it and the cooler and just use a single stick of memory and only a single drive (you could even leave the drive out as it should still boot into the bios) and try booting. You could go so far as to try the motherboard and building it up on top of the cardboard box that the motherboard came in to rule out any grounding issues in the case. If it still won't boot shut down and swap memory sticks and try again.Memory should be in slots A2 and B2 which are the 2nd and 4th slots from the cpu.

If it still doesn't work then something is probably DOA and unless you have other compatible spares to test with you are going to have to take it to a local pc shop for them to test or RMA the lot back to where you bought them and they will test and replace anything that is found faulty. Please note that if they find no fault they will hit you with a return postage charge.

Everything works absolutely perfectly as long as I shut down the PC (issuing Shut down rather than Restart from the menu) then turn her on then press the DEL key. The board was brand new and static bag sealed BTW and is on the current firmware. As I said, I can get into the BIOS but only by performing the above steps whereas I'm more used to pressing restart then hitting the DEL key until the BIOS screen appears on my other mobo's in the past.

I almost bought that myself. Glad I did some research as I was about to hit the order button. (Rainforest)
