hi i went to put some TIM in when i realized i didn't have much left.
do you think this will do?

if not, will it be enough to boot and check my temps?

mate if you cant see what it says on the chips thats enough.... a pound says when you put the cooler on and test your temps your have lower than you use to! people forget its ment to be a super thin layer to replace the air gap between the two peices of metal

cpu to hsf should be metal on metal, paste is just there for the microscopic divots in the metal.

Actually creating a whole sandwiched layer of paste would be real bad, usually it would come out the sides anyway

i never really put loads on anyway its just i could see the cpu underneath very slightly with this amount of paste

Looks like the way my wife butters her toast. You only want a 3mm/3 blop in the middle mate. let the hsf do the spreading.

lol, i didn't have much left , this is as thin as you are gonna get without seeing the cpu underneath, it was about a 1mm blob lol

It's better to put a blob in the middle and then press and wiggle the heatsink a bit, if you spread it first then you get trapped air bubbles.
