Sky : Recieving the channels for free and no idea why!

My grandparents who have an old sky boy and dish bought the card so that you can watch all the free channels on sky about 4 months ago.

Randomly about 3 weeks ago all the sky channels started working (sky sports, movies etc) and still no one is paying anything.

Just wondering if this has happened to anyone else and if it is a marketing trick from sky (to try and get you hooked  )

cheers for any advice

years and years ago before it was digital we had a Sky box just in the living room to watch the free channels and some of them started to come back on. Think we ended up with everythin for about a month or so. Then they all went off again just in a day or something.

I remember when our Telewest box suddenly allowed access to the adult channels.

Only lasted a day -- but what a day.

are you sure they havn't had the box chipped at the local dodgy electrical shop ? :)

Those days are long gone for the sky boxes! i knew someone who actually went to prison for scamming sky boxes etc, it was so widespread at one point it was scary

It is a marketing trick. to give you the full channels for one month and then take them away again to show you what your missing.

should get a letter in the post explaining it

Does that apply to NTL and the fact I have had 10mb for nearly 2 years and not paid one penny fo it. Apart for installation..:D

My Grandad had free Sky for 9 years, all the movies, all the sports.
He even moved house and informed them of a change of address and a re-install and it was still free.

He only started paying when he upgraded to SkyHD.
