what do you reckon to a 20yr old with 0ncb buying 1.4 zr as first car would the insurance be to much do you think.is it a bad idea?

also i no sum places you can get a years free insurance on a new car.but do some places give you a yr free insurance if the car has been used say 20k miles and the car cost 5k?

I'd say its slightly OTT. I paid less at 19 with no NCB on a new saxo VTR (£1100 Comp.).

Who have you tried for insurance?

Churchill/Tesco/Nationwide (same underwriters) are always cheapest for me.

used confused.com quinn direct came back cheapest on 3 quotes i did

rover 214 bubble shape
ford escort
mg zr

all 1.4s

I've only known people have issues with Quinn. That and confused = crap for young drivers. They only seem to search a finite number of expensive (for young drivers) insurers, and then add their "commision" on top.

Just go quote yourself with the major players:

Tesco
Churchill
Norwich Union
CIS
Direct Line
etc...

Shouldnt be a problem if you shop around... I'm also 20 with 0NCB and insured on a 1.8 Focus fully comp - having said that it is only IG6 or 7.

I pay £1300 with 0NCB 2 fault accidents on a 1.4 IG5 Pug 206. I'm 21 btw.

Bit of a rough deal but, that's what happens when you lack concentration whilst driving.

i dont know what it is about zrs but i like them.

so does anyone know if they do a yrs free insurance on used cars.

Why not get a VTR, cheaper insurance, just as quick and no HGF. :p
