not possible?

whats HGF?
Head Gasket Failure. Basically its an engine killing design flaw in the K-series engine (found in most small engined rovers), but its no-where near as common as people would have you believe, just more common than most other similar engines.

I agree with cymatty though, a Saxo VTR will be more entertaining (even if the interior isn't quite as nice a place to be). The saxo is incredibly chuckable around bends, and quite brisk in a straight line also. I managed to keep up with a few clio 172's in my old one ;)

and they dont make saxos anymore i dont think so no free 1yrs insurance

Correct, no they don't. But they also don't make MG ZR's anymore, and at least the saxo comes from a company that still exists, and as such can repair/service the car ;)

true

argh im even more confused now than i was before starting this thead

why didnt they put honda engines in the zr like they do on some rovers?

hmm thats alllright

never really like the newer model prefered the mk1 front.

still nice

Well the MK1's are even cheaper, but are obviously older and will have higher mileage.

That was only on larger engined Rovers like the 600 series as far as I know. Thing is, the K-series is a good engine, they are free revving and make decent power for their capacity, its just a shame they have such a design flaw. Heck, the K-series is used in the Lotus Elise!

I'd still get a VTR though ;)

EDIT: MK2's are better IMO. They (apart from looking far more modern) have more power, have a far better screwed together interior, have a digital dash with white dials rather than the analog clocks with blue faces in the MK1. The MK2 also has nice tail lights, and a smaller (less chav) spoiler.

so many cars ..i might look into the saxos now

isnt the VTR a bit much for first motor

Nope Digitalwolf has one and it is still fine iirc, and any car can be to much if you drive like an idiot.

thanks for all ** advice

i think u have talked me outta the mg idea id probably be paying through the nose left right and centre

probably a toss up between

corsa 1.2
saxo vtr

Once you get your best quote, ring A-plan, I got insurance quote for £1300 on my Golf 1.6SE from quinn.

Then spoke to A plan and said that and he came back with £1200 and that includes modifcations like Alloys :D

That isn't even a toss up. One is worth having, one isn't. To quote what I said in another recent thread:

I've had the mispleasure of owning a Corsa B 1.2, having a "courtesy" Corsa C 1.2 SXi (53 plate), a rental 1.4 TWINPORT (yeah baby) (54 plate), and a quick blast in a 1.8 SRi (53 plate iirc). They ALL sucked hard. The handling is laughable, the interior quality is dire, and during my time with all of the above (bar the 1.8 SRi), I managed to break something on each of them :)

The VTR all the way for me :)

16" Toora Platinum 8's. Aided grip no end, but expensive tyre size (to keep overall circumference similar to stock) 195/40/R16.

I wouldn't prefer black, its a pain in the **** to keep clean and scratch free. Plus Icelandic Grey (the colour of mine) is one of the rarer colours ;)

/Is also at work ;)
