Once my computer has gone to sleep and I press my keyboard or mouse to wake it up you hear the computer start up again but the monitors just say black as if they have no input.

I thought they was a software issue so I re-installed windows 7 and its still doing it.

I had that, not sure what I did to fix it, I think it got fixed when I upgraded my motherboard.

So you should probably try and update your BIOS..

This kind of thing is normally down to drivers. Are you running the latest on everything? Graphics drivers in particular...

I have to hit Escape or CTRL+SHIFT+ESC to get my screen (3008WFP) to wake up.

Dunno why and it's very annoying.

-GTX480.

I just tired this and it didn't work for me. My graphics drivers are all the latest ones as I've only just re-installed windows 7.

The strange thing is, when I hold the power button in to force the computer to turn off and then turn it back on again it starts up really slow. It will take a few seconds for what i just clicked on the desktop to open but after a few minutes it works perfectly fine.

You shouldnt do that, thats effectively crashing windows, not healthy, if the computer is responding then press ctrl+alt+del twice to make it restart

As earlier try updating your BIOS

Pressing it twice doesn't restart it for me and i would update my bios but I'm not really sure how. I have the new bios on my pen drive but once I go into motherboard settings I don't see anything like "update bios"
