Not so immaculate anymore.

Don't see why you couldn't have that plastic welded, seeing as though its split so perfectly. Be surprised if this sets you back more than £400-500 absolute tops (including painting).

Annoying though.

Some people and there disrespect for cars astounds me daily, i park as far away from everyone as i can, i have no problem walking if it means i don't get a dinged car.

The annoying thing is that they probably didnt even notice that they did it whilst peering onver the steering wheel of their massive merc with a blue rinse lol!

Spent most of today getting quotes, they all seem to be in the region of £500-£600 but found one garage who was recommended by my father for £250 and I've seen his work. I tried about 6 garages and 5 out of 6 feel confident about repairing the bumper but cannot promise it'll last if it gets knocked again but I'll take my chances and get it repaired in a few weeks time.

Top tip: NEVER EVER EVER EVER award bodyshop work to the lowest bidder. Especially when said lowest bidder is half the price of everyone else.

True that.

Depends how much of a perfectionist his Dad is really doesnt it? Plenty of people recommend linglong tyres - it depends what somebodies prorities are. If the priorities are low cost then of course they will recommend somebody who does an average job for half the price, but thats no use if you want a perfect job is it?

The OP is a guy who drives his car 6 miles down the road and hides it in a shipping container. He isnt going to want a job less than perfect is he?

Precisely, which is why I said it depends if his dads recommendation is worth anything to the OP.

Half price is half price, that seldom goes hand in hand with top class work dont matter who recommends them.

Could do though, could be a mate that done it cheaper. I haven't said that that is the case though, merely suggesting it might not be a crap job, he needs to view some of their work first before he decides. I'll agree it does sound unusually cheap though.

Indeed, often (but not always!) the more expensive ones are priced thus for a very good reason....

Unlucky OP.

I'm still mulling it over but Stratstone has quoted £573 which seems reasonable considering the type of cars they repair. He went into great detail too about the repair process which gives me confidence. Now I'm sure the £250 guy will do a job that will look perfect but I have to question how long it'll last compared to somewhere like Shorde or Statstone.

You aint skint, you love the car, take it to Stratstone, you can keep going back moaning to them as many times as you like till they get it right with out putting ya dads mate out.

I might be able to get you a complete front bumper for less than the repair cost. Let me make a call as I know where there is a complete bumper in red and in superb condition. I was going to fit it to a damaged VXR a while back..

Give me 10 mins.. Thats if you are interested.. ?

Edit - Cancel that it has been sold. Sorry about that but was worth a try.
