Not sure if I can rma my cpu

I Have a question,
How can any one tell if cpu was overclocked.
Does it change any settings inside cpu?
I was under impression that overclocking is on bios and nowhere else.
Maybe I'm wrong. Can someone educate me plz.
No sarcasm.

nope, all sorted in BIOS. You cannot tell at all with just the CPU.

But it still doesnt stress the cpu as hard as prime95. The temps give it away. Max temps under the intel tests was 55c. Max temps while running prime are 65c. Prime95 generates more heat.

Intel Burn Test is very similar in load to Prime95 as it is also an AVX load and runs linpack. Linpack normally finds instability far more quickly than Prime95.

How much RAM did you allow it to use? How long does Prime95 tend to take before crashing?

Well then. Overclocked or not if it fails u send it back .

Intell dont like if u overclock it. They can't find out if u did.
Damn guys what are u smoking.

If you OC your CPU you void your warranty, even on a K chip. I'd ask OCUK if they are willing to look at it for you.

Have you swapped out the RAM to check it isn't that?

Is this fact? I can't see anywhere that says so. I'd raise an RMA and not give away information. But I can't see that you've voided your warranty.

I RMA'd my 1600 recently, and no one even asked. Return to AMD, and replaced with a brand new unit.

For Intel, not AMD. Intel even sell a protection plan to cover you if you want to overclock and still have a warranty!

But if u don't say u OC they dont know.
So it's moot .
I guess its another way corporations makes money from gullible ppl.

Well that's true of many things in life. If you don't tell people you can get away with a lot of shady stuff.
