Hey all,

sorry not a frequent poster on these forums, however i was wondering if some people would be so kind and to advise me what i should do with my build, upgrade certain parts or ditch and build a new.

i currently have,

Antec Dark Fleet Case - http://www.bit-tech.net/hardware/cases/2010/07/22/antec-dark-fleet-review/1

Intel Core i5-2500K 3.30GHz (Sandybridge) Socket LGA1155 Processor

Asrock Z68 Extreme4 Intel Z68 (Socket 1155) DDR3 Motherboard

Corsair Vengeance Low Profile 8GB (2x4GB) DDR3 PC3-12800C9 1600MHz Dual Channel Kit (CML8GX3M2A1600C9)

Thermalright Silver Arrow SB-E CPU Cooler

Gigabyte GeForce GTX 460 SUPER OC 1024MB GDDR5 PCI-Express Graphics Card

2 x OCZ Agility 3 128GB 2.5" SATA 6Gb/s Solid State Hard Drive

700w OCZ PSU

Western Digital Caviar Green 2TB SATA 6Gb/s 64MB Cache

im sure you don't need to know screen and peripherals....

mainly use the PC for gaming, i built this over 2 years ago, and has done me proud, however some of the newer games my PC seems to struggle with and im just lost with what i should go for.

any help would be very much appreciated.

Thanks

Overclock your CPU if you haven't already, and get a new GPU. Then you'll be good to go.

What is your budget for a new card?

What resolution do you play at? 1080p?

ahhhhh going to sound like a right noob!

havent done overclocking before, so wouldn't know where to turn on that one,

erm resolution is 1920x1080 on a samsung syncmaster p2450  getting the feeling my setup might not be right :(

budget around the £350 mark, want to get most for the budget, but dont want to go TITAN range as from what i read they are not as good as they are made out to be..... unless im mistaken...

That's fine :p You've got a CPU capable of being overclocked and a CPU cooler capable of keeping it cool, so look up some Sandy Bridge overclocking guides and see if you'd be willing to give it a go.

I would quite happily spend my money on any of these cards (in fact, I did spend my money on the Inno3D 780):

YOUR BASKET
1 x Gigabyte GeForce GTX 780 WindForce 3x OC Rev2.0 3072MB GDDR5 PCI-Express Graphics Card (GV-N780OC-3GD) £379.99
1 x Inno3D GeForce GTX 780 iChill HerculeZ X3 Ultra 3072MB GDDR5 PCI-Express Graphics Card (C78V-1SDN-L5HSX) £379.99
1 x Gainward GeForce GTX 780 Phantom GLH 3072MB GDDR5 PCI-Express Graphics Card £379.99
1 x MSI Radeon R9 290 Gaming Edition 4096MB GDDR5 PCI-Express Graphics Card £359.99
Total : £1,509.56 (includes shipping : £8.00).

The 780s all come with Assassin's Creed: Black Flag.

i have a habit of asking really stupid questions, but

whats the difference between the ones you have marked up and ones like http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=GX-033-IN&groupid=701&catid=1914&subcat=1341

The DHS edition has a higher base clock. It isn't really worth spending the extra £40, as you'll be able to overclock the regular Inno3D card to that level in seconds (literally).

Thank you Fulax

i will admit looking at those 4 im really tempted with

1 x Inno3D GeForce GTX 780 iChill HerculeZ X3 Ultra 3072MB GDDR5 PCI-Express Graphics Card (C78V-1SDN-L5HSX) £379.99

i have a monster of a case so im sure i wont need to worry about the reported size of this thing.

probably a real cheeky question but would monitors have much affect to gaming, if so what should i look for if i wanted a new one :D
