HI guys,

I had some major problems with my comp a while ago, had a repetitive problem, bsods and freezing whenever i ran my computer, after some testing and reseating etc I put an old ata Hdd in to replace my SataII seagate, computer has run fine ever since.

I had previously tested the seagate using seatools and didnt receive a single error from any of the tests, but this is obviously where the route of the problem lies, as sonn as it was out of my machine all has worked perfectly! so im wondering if i send it back will they just run the same tests and say theres nothing wrong with it?

Cheers chaps

If the Seagate tools don't find any errors with the drive then it's unlikely you'll get a replacement. However the chances are it's not the drive itself that's been to blame rather the SATA controller and it's drivers are a more likely candidate for blame.

What board are you using?

Thanks for the reply, its the Asrock ConroeXFire-eSATA2 mobo, could it just be some driver updates that are needed then?

It's not guaranteed to fix it but driver updates are easy to do so you might as well give them a go. If nothing else it's one more thing ruled out.
