Not sure which console to buy...

We'll have to agree to disagree on your main point though. I don't agree that a small increase in visual fidelity is a strong enough reason alone for buying a PS4.

Tends to be frame rate and resolution improvements when cross platform games are tested.

Quoted as incorrect and to make such claims is misleading.

As an example...

To quote Eurogamer, regarding PS4 and X1, Arkham Knight: "From top to bottom, these two versions are otherwise identical. The resolution difference is the only aspect that divides the two visually, and both deliver results eerily close to Epic's 2011 demo."

Additionally it is well known that the X1 has far better media functionality and compatibility than the PS4. Does it have Kinect, nope. Does it have hdmi passthrough, nope. Does it have windows 10 streaming, nope. Hell you can't even play many mkv files on the PS4.

Some selective quoting from EG article there, they mentioned more hiccups, tearing and pixel crawl in Batman on X1, if you read it, otherwise they are identical, does a console need Kinect, Nope, even Microsoft has moved away from that focus, HDMI passthrough...are you gaming or watching TV, media abilities, do you want ~200watts churning away when you can do such things on a couple of watts via media stick or smartTV. Same for windows 10 streaming, console plus power hungry PC on, or just use a little low power PSTV over the network for same functionality.

I'll admit, X1 appears to have better exclusive line up coming out in the near term.

Make your mind up, resolution can't matter for cross-platform games but then suddenly doesn't for streaming.

I've got PS4, I've played on xbone, visually the PS4 serves up better graphics and the actual unit is a lot better. The big thing I'm waiting on is Morpheus, that is going to be a game changer.

Thanks for the replies guys. Ps3udo lol, I just I find it difficult as both units have something that appeals to me. Although I can only afford one at the moment. Kinect appeals to me yet mgs in September does too. Where are those deals for the consoles? As everywhere I look for the batman ps4 console is £330?

Buy both or none - honestly I feel Im wasting my time giving you a weighted reply. Sounds like you just what something to play so why not just go for last-gen and pop over to friends/family for a taste of current gen. Would you really recommend anything if you read your own OP(s) if it was 2 other competing products?

LE versions of a console arent going to be the cheapest way to get on a platform.

One thing I will say is dont listen to pioneer2000, he will not give you a rounded expectation and will happily mislead you. You have been warned, just look at post history to verify...

ps3ud0

Since you ditched the PS4 last time why bother getting another one?

Get the Xbox One.

I have both and there is not a massive deal in it. My personal preference is the PS4 but I don't really give care that much. Life is easier when you have both and don't have to make this choice! :p

I was just offering up a bullet point to match yours, I wouldn't use it personally for anything fast paced, the additional latency can't be got around, transcoding is not free.

Windows 10 streaming will have similar limitations.

The new Xbox dashboard looks nice and quick. Look at what games are coming over the next 12 months and pick that console...imho I don't think there any better then each other

I've got both, my PS4 is played on constantly, my XB1 hardly ever.

For me - so far - the games on PS4 are better than the XB1, both exclusives and cross platform titles. My main platform is PC for cross plat games but exclusives like Driveclub and The Last of Us are stunning. I found Forza Horizon meh and Forza 5 even more meh after playing Driveclub.

The XB1 interface is horrid, it's slow and clumsy, the PS4 is much clearer and slick thanks to the XMB.

I really want to use the Xbox and enjoy it but with no AAA games yet I have found it a huge disappointment. So I'd vote PS4 but it really depends what games you want to play.

Funny that, after waiting and waiting for Project Cars, I got it did a couple of seasons got bored and went back to Driveclub, PCars should be right up my alley, I wonder how much of that is down to sims not being sims without my g27 so I don't enjoy them in the same way, whereas I can just have a bit of fun on pad in DC.

Update to this - I bought a ps4. Loving rest mode and farcry 4! Ill see how long I keep it but plenty of great titles to keep me amused for a while.

Good choice, I think both consoles have there merits though.

All comes down to games.

No mans sky is going to be epic as well I hope.

Make a list of all the games you want to play then see which console plays the majority and go with that. You can always buy the other when finances permit, there aren't any laws on owning more than one console :)

I really like the current Xbox One interface, the only problem as you say is that it's incredibly slow at time. But with Windows 10 around the corner and the new UI launching soon that shouldn't be a problem and certainly shouldn't be a reason to discount the console.
