Did a new built about 6 weeks ago with Win 7 with my existing crucial M4 64 gig SSD as boot disk but with new processor and Asus P8H77-I all for a HTPC

After running for about 6 weeks started to have problems with the system crashing - going to a dos type screen referencing the boot disk....

Did checked the bois and realised the HDD's where set to IDE mode, switched this to AHCI and did a fresh reinstall. However Im not convinced windows is running the drives in AHCI mode - if i download the latest intel rapid storage drivers for my MB from the Asus website they wont install saying the hardware is not compatible?

Is there a way to check how windows 7 is seeing the drives rather than the bios?

Just thought id update this in case anyone has similar problems in the future for search.

Installed a SSD benchmark and it was running in windows in IDE mode despite saying AHCI mode in the bios - even a regedit and finally a reinstall wouldnt fix...

update the bios to the latest version and all is fine so seems there was a problem with the default bios shipped with the P8H77-I MB
