NOT the Rich O'clock news (part 2)

My production really is below ground level at the moment - it's dropped from around 10k a week to 6k a week and is now not much about 2k a week

I need to get myself one of those "proper jobs" that people keep talking about and get some serious crunching power in my machine :D

Thanks for the news Mr shadowscotland.

Always look forward to the news, even if my production has unexpectedly dropped this week :(

Cheers for the news!

Nice crunching team, fold on!

On a side note, I've had 2 EUE's this week, both at 7% and someone pulled the cable on my laptop out and thought plugging it in without telling me what they had done was ok, loosing me 14 hours of folding time and resulting in a 96% complete wu being binned as its past its sell by date. :(

Apart from that, I have begun to set-up my farm once more and am relocating computers so they don't turn my bathroom (where they all are) into a furnace. :D

I've tried 'proper jobs' and they're over-rated. They just get in the way of your leisure activities.

The other thing you find is that getting a new one when you're my age is damn near impossible. My sister's partner, a schoolfriend and myself, all of us over 50, lost our permanent jobs last year and I don't think any of us are full-time in IT now. :(

My other half is a tad over the age you mentioned (I'm no spring chicken btw) and works for Radstone (now owned by GE) writing the self test software for military hardware.

There is hope for everyone.

EDIT: I'd love one of their rack style PC's with 20 CPU's on one bus talking to each other, oodles of PPD.

Thanks for doing the news!

Bah my production continues to be unimpressive :(. And it's only going to be going downwards for a few weeks ... 'coz ...

I'm going to Indonesia on Tuesday . Off for four weeks to help on some sciency research projects out there (2 weeks in the rainforest, 2 weeks scuba-diving) - going to be the trip of a lifetime. Anyway, I will bid you all a fond farewell for a few weeks while I get a killer tan. :D Stomping me while I'm gone will be considered extremely rude - please refrain. I expect my well-stocked beer fridge to remain when I return.

For all the Mac folders out there there is a new version of InCrease out. Calxalot seems to have made quite a few changes. Most importantly, the "Install" button is gone. It also now checks for its own updates and a bunch of ther cool new things. It's not too different from the last beta but if you've been running version 2.2 there're a lot of new goodies. Check it out:

I should be back in the top 20 before bedtime, just dumped a 1760 pointer, mind you downloaded a 1385 pointer so will drop back out almost immediately.

Meanwhile, congratulations on theheyes for reaching the top 100, nice average.:)

I might have a days downtime this week, need to strip down the watercooling and take one of the GFX cards out of the circuit, my 400W powersupply is showing signs of strain (random reboots). Might rebuild the whole system soon, inside a Silverstone SG03 so I can use a beefier powersupply.

Gazzza, isn't he a retired alcholic footballer who had the ultimate indignity of being sacked as manager from Kettering FC, my old home town.

Whayhay! :D

I was going to bump my 100wu thread with the news but I may as well do it here. I don't post that much but I decided to fold for this team because you seem to be a friendly bunch on this forum. That, and SiruisB kept nagging me.

Fold away!

Something very interesting has happened. I had 2610s on my two main crunchers, my C1D laptop and my dual Xeon desktop. The Xeon rig is unable to finish them in time. When the deadline is up it usually is at around 76% complete. Because of this I sneakernet WUs between the two.

This time, however, I was unable to sneakernet them because I was out of town on business. The WU expired and sent the message that it was killing the cores, deleting the WU, and moving on. It didn't do that. It continued to print that message but it was still completing frames. I decided to let it continue to see what would happen. The WU finished yesterday and was resubmitted for credit! I'm quite surprised the server accepted it.

I'd prefer to be listed as myself since I had no intention of being part of a sub-team. And you bloody well know it, mr shadow!

I didn't spot the last paragraph and just did a search for my name, which isn't present.

Where has your extra PPD come from btw mr heyes?
