Not your usual Crysis thread

I wonder how Crysis is going to end? My money is on a gunfight with a giant blue squid looking thing (possibly encased in mech-style armour) in the big hemispheric room at the centre of the alien spaceship...you know the room...its just past the enormous stash of ammunition and medpacks. Quick take him down with the rocket launcher whilst avoiding his special zero-G ice attack! I got the "good" ending!

Sounds like Preys ending, well and a lot of other FPS....Yeah it'll probably happen. :)

well for me:

1) it looks way too mcuh like farcry
2) farcry 2 looks much better
3) i dont like the look of the hands in the game
4) the super speed stuff looks silly
5) haven't got a good enough pc!

I can't get excited about games any more. I used to look forward to these things and just find the final release disappointing, so I gave up and decided to look at games that are released only. Turns out that by spending the time I used to spend looking at previews and trailers doing other things like looking for games that are already out that I may have missed, I could have more fun in the long run. It got to the point where Stalker came out and I didn't know until two weeks later when a friend was playing it.

So to summarise the recent posts:

Lack of a structure to the MP game (no Commander or tactics) (Tick: Not an issue for OE2)
PS seems to be headless chickens mode (Tick: Not an issue for OE2)
Concerns about comic book style of the nanosuit (Tick: Not an issue for OE2)(loads, you can turn the voice off)
Concerns about spec requirements vs performance....(We are working on it!)

Ergonomics, check out the tactical strike game type here:

Does that fit more with your requirements?

All good feedback fellas ta! :D

Owt else?

Im sick of seeing that same Jungle, just looks like FarCry with a gfx mod to bring it up to date.
I have to agree with this post. It very much looks like a spruced up Far Cry.
There doesnt seem to have been much thought put into the setting & its a repetition of Far Crys open world setting, which was interesting in its time, but these days its just not much of a hook. It may be graphically pleasing but from a gameplay point of view CoD 4 is gaining much more of my attention.
The action seems to be more upfront & in your face. Thats why CoD4 is on my preorder list & Crysis is not.

I think there are a lot of people looking forward to it, however, the hype can't be sustained for such a long time. It was revealed so long ago that it has died down now. It will be back just before launch though too.

Oh, the FilePlanet only beta **** never helps. I just get annoyed that i have to pay to play a Beta. I'll certainly be buying, even just for a bit of multiplayer (if the game reviews averagely) which according to the beta testers is great. Something different from the usual deathmatch due to the suit though I am sure the sing player will be good too.

I'm not looking forward to Crysis because the last time I looked forward to a game it was the mess that was Halo2. A new game hasn't impressed me longevity wise since CSS, and before that Halo1 which I still play to this day.

Hopefully it will be great and have fantastic reply value... but I doubt it :P

Hey guys,
Its on the streets now and seems to have taken over at least 50% of this board, so without NDA or access to the BETA program restrictions, what are your opinions of Power Struggle?

What did they get right?
What did they get wrong?

Looking for gameplay type insights, there has been enough written about the technical performance to sink a battleship!!

Cheers

I like the idea but im yet to get on a server (limited becasue of not PB support for 64bit right now) and when i do im in a game where the people playing all have nukes and bfg9000s and im running round with the starting pistol and a stick with dog poo on it.

I've always said weapon buying in games sucks. It means if you set off to a good start then your going out gun the people you are already beating.
Why its become such a staple of some online shooters is beyond me.

Class based systems are allot better.

The good thing about crysis in respect to buying weapons is that you don't really need to buy any weapons, just a couple of accessories and the nukes to actually win the game. If I'm trying to save points I'll just buy a pistol silencer and a grenade and sneak around, kill someone (often with a strength punch) and nick their weapon. You aren't hugely disadvantaged for having no weapons.

On the down side I think in some cases it's too difficult to escape once someone has started firing at you, specially if you're out in the huge open space that the PS maps provide. If you're on armour mode and start getting shot at, you can't speed boost away or cloak because you've lost all your energy on armour. It often comes down to first-person-to-shoot-wins. Then once you die you have to travel all the way from a spawn. A lot of my PS play so far has been driving around punctuated by a few kills and captures here and there. Was playing beach yesterday and it was mostly a case of drive to energy site. Sit there on my own and capture, someone comes along and kills me (or I kill them). I drive back to the energy site, repeat.

The question is why arent you looking forward to Crysis?

Farcry with updated graphics.

Just from an initial perusal of the same thread I'd point out that the ones that don't have Crysis follow a certain genre: i.e.

Crysis
The Witcher
Clive Barker's Jericho
Call Of Duty 4
Quake Wars
Unreal Tournament 3
Portal

= all shooters and a strong showing for the scifi side of gaming

could you edit your post? Or did i miss a day where the devs made a statement that The Witcher is actually an FPS and not an action-rpg.
Its the weirdest shooter ive ever seen then. What kind of sci-fi has elves and dwarfs? :p (DOW?)
