Note 4 or Nexus 6

Note 4 - battery lasts horribly long and you end up just not caring about it. Touchwiz bloat is there but you don't really feel any lag overall since the device is so fast. Changing the launcher doesn't affect the S-Pen's functionality one bit and is a worthwhile move. I am not a Samsung or TW fan at all but love mine.

My only 2 cons about the Note4:
* Notification LED is small (smaller than the S3) and has an annoying 'stripe' through it.
* The protruding camera at the back, which means I do have to use a case with it. I always go naked with my phones.

Tbh it probably better the Note 4 still on 4.4.4, Android 5.0 has been problematic for for a lot of folk on the Nexus 4/5/6, even with 5.0.1 there are still a few bugs that need to be sorted.

And there's the rub with "fast" android updates, I also prefer tw to naked.

Note 4 is best phone out imo and surprisingly touchwiz doesn't lag , in fact the whole phone doesn't lag.

I think the Note looks better on paper but I've done Samsung before, their software is hideous. Nexus 6 gets my vote.

Have you actually spent any time with the Note 4 though? Touchwiz is nowhere near as bad as it used to be, and brings a lot to the table over stock android.

A year or more ago I'd have agreed with you 100%, but after using stock on my Nexus 5, and TW on the Note 4, there isn't really any objective downsides to the current version of TW.

No I haven't. I had an S4 for a few months and had to get rid. I already had a bitter taste in my mouth of Android from crappy skins on my HTC Desire. It wasn't until I actually got a Nexus 7 that I realised Android was OK it was just the crap manufactures put on top of it.
Motorola have done well as its pretty much stock Android. I wish Samsung would offer a similar package.

Nexus can also be rooted without permeantly triggering the warranty counter. Depends if that it is important like it is to me.

I'm a Nexus lover :p - Got a 4, 5, and a 7 and generally I'm also normally not a great fan of TouchWiz and was also in the same situation, Nexus 6 or Note 4....

I bought a Note 4 because I heard the battery, camera and screen was a little better...than the N6.

After almost a week with it I'm loving it and won't be returning it to get a Nexus 6.

Yes, I agree that there is now and again a tiny bit of stutter compared to my Nexus 5 running either stock or a custom Lollipop rom.

I find the slight stutters now and again to be mostly in the apps (Google+ etc) I'm using Apex as the launcher as I found my normal go to launcher Nova chewed the battery a little, but I'll re-visit that soon.

Now that it's settled in, I'm absolutely loving the Note 4!!

Awesome battery, everything on, including Google Now, running it hard and I'm still getting 5-6 hours of screen time.

Love the camera, the display is amazing and I actually find the added features of TouchWiz apart from the launcher part very useful and good additions to the phone.

Got a 64GB card in their too which is working great.

Can't wait for the Lollipop update :D

Google don't care if you root your Nexus, it's a developer device.

I found lag on the Note 4!

Odd can't get how smooth this is, am very susceptible to lag hate it. This is the first Samsung device I have had that doesn't lag, saying that I got mine just as they released an update to make it smooth few weeks ago so good timing maybe. In terms of smoothness it's up there with the one plus one I have.

I use KK launcher as it gives the stock android style widgets/wallpaper when you hold on home screen which is what I prefer.

The camera on this phone is amazing from the clarity to the sound it produces.
