Hi

Last night my Note 4 stopped charging completely.

I put it on charge last night and it flicked on and off charge making the beep noise several times before staying on charge. I went to sleep and woke up to 20% battery, so it knocked off again after i went to sleep.

I've tried several different wires/plugs/power bricks to no avail. I've rebooted it also but cannot get it to charge.

Any ideas please?

Update * Have found that the phone will only charge via pc usb port.

Chances are it'll be the battery that is knackered. This is happening to a great deal of Note4's recently and given their age it seems about right. I've observed a LOT of Note4's (on reddit) over the past months with battery issues including my one that I've passed to my father. https://www.reddit.com/r/note4/

His just switches off randomly and is a nightmare to switch on again. Once booted, the time/date is completely off and the battery charge level is lower then what was last reported. I've just grabbed a Powerbear battery from Amazon UK as they were £9.99 from £49 and will install that the moment the phone acts up again (so far for a week its been ok)

i have 2 batteries, so its not that, and i have cleared out the port as my wife had that problem on her note 3.

i watched a video on changing the charger port, looks like you pretty much fully dismantle the phone.

Similar thing happened to my One M8. Replaced the usb port and it worked fine after.

I actually got my Note 4 because of the above issue on my M8 (that was before I decided to try fixing it myself). I got an official external charger which comes with an official battery for my Note 4 from the rainforest for about £30.

Sure it's not a dodgy cable? I've had mine do that with some damaged leads. New ones are a nice snug fit and seem to fix problem for me.

nah, tried my tab cable, wifes S7 cable and plug. all charge her phone and my tab just not my phone. My wire charges everything also.

I might buy an external charger, holding out for an S8, don't want to buy an S7 edge so close to its release.

I had a similar issue with my Note 4 this Christmas. It decided to short and burn out the USB port whilst charging off the mains, stopped charging completely & partly melted inside the case.

I Recommend getting a magnifying glass and a torch and inspecting the port for a damaged/bent pin.

I ended up taking it to the Samsung service centre for repair as it was still under warranty and I wasn't confident enough to dismantle the phone and replace the USB board myself. I wish I had though as they ruled it an out of warranty repair and charged me £75 for the work anyway, as it was due to 'misuse or accidental damage', I was livid but needed my phone asap so I stumped up the money.

I've had to replace several leads which all burnt out at some point charging through the shorted socket, so if it is the issue, it's important to inspect and replace any damaged leads / accessories also.

Was it done the same day?

If its a £75 job then im going to buy a £30 external battery charger. They come with a battery and i already have two of them so will have plenty for a rotation.

Im getting rid as soon as the S8 comes out so it cant be that far away.

I had the same issue with my note 3, changed the USB port. Cost me £10 or something for the part. Toke less than 5 minutes to change.

Also try tightening the two screws that hold the USB board in place, worked for me. Well for a few days.

something new :p Now it only charges via PC in ultra power save mode...

Ordered a battery charger yesterday. It has also started randomly rebooting.

Hurry up S8.
