We started shipping and selling the new N router from the 15th, anyone received one or purchased one?

From what I've read
Only 100Mbps switch
Wireless N lite of 144mbps
No feature for wireless N only atm

Not great but certainly an upgrade compared to their last failure.
They certainly are selling quiet well but I've had no tech support calls on them yet. Good thing I suppose.

£35 for existing customers, shipped free for new ones.

I'm not happy with the draytec router, its proving really flakey on the wireless side. Last night one of the house netbooks lost wireless and then we all did. Tried logging in via the hard wire but it was still sulking, hard reset later and we all came on again.

Being as i'm in the first week of connection i'm thinking to leave the router in place for another week and then make the move to a different one. Not happy with the options in the router ether, would like to set up time restrictions based on mac addresses, not ip's :(

I'm going mad, its a Dlink router (the draytec is my work one!)

So take all that and substitute drayec for dlink DSL2640!

I'm waiting for an openreach engineer to come and install a new line on the 7th sept, then my sky bb will go live. Only problem with the wait is, my cooling off period will have expired as i had the router delivered last week. Hopefully i won't need a reason to cancel, but if there are any serious problems, i will fight my corner saying i couldn't even test the service until 2 weks after ordering it!

Will see how the sagemcom router copes, if it's pants then i'll use my trusty dg834gt router. Only problem with the netgear is that it's only wireless G.

I was with O2 unlimited at my old address and it was great, no complaints etc etc, then i enquired about transferring that package to a new address. Because this new address doesn't have a phone line, they said i would need to get BT to install one at a cost of £120+. Sky comes along and offers to install the line for a tenner. That's what swung it for me.

The biggest wtf is that it's BT Openreach that is installing the line on sky's behalf anyway.

Just found out that my local exchange has gone sky LLU. Seriously considering a change from ADSL24 and 6MB/s D/L. £19.90 a month down to £7.50, and faster speeds as well!
Whats sky like with gaming, and steam etc?

Great online Gaming use it for Battlefiled bad company steam, AVA Free , Team Fotress Great also :-)

I Was paying £35 ish to IDNET for a 6 to 7 meg connection, Now £12.50 "No telephone with them " Now get; Status off router 23899 kbps and 796 kbps upload If I want I could phone them up to get a better upload doing that will get me moved back to 20 meg , so iam leaving that alone BTW easily get 2.3MB and sometimes 2.4MB downloads :-)

Cooling off period doesn't start until the BB goes active AFAIK?

Hmmm somebody has just said on the sky forums that sky have changed their policy from Sept 1st, and you now have to take sky talk when ordering broadband. Not an option for me as I am tied into a BT phone contract for another 8 months.
Anyone else heard this, is it true or do sky really not want my money!

Thats extrememly pants.
edit: Just phoned Bt and I am out of my contract with them, so its decisions...decisions... I know its the wrong bit of the forum but anyone got any experirence with sky talk? The sky help forums are full of angst.

What's the actual price of the current only broadband offer?

The webpage says half price for 6 months, £5 then £10 thereafter + £12.25 line rental but the actual price in the basket seems to be different.

Is it £14.75 total for 6 months then £22.25 or what? Trying to work it out for total year cost.

Recently noticed that Sky have LLU'd my exchange, but how much is the monthly cost? £7.50 for broadband and £12.25 for line rental?

It says in the basket that line rental is £7.25/month (at half price for 6 months)

I really don't like the idea of moving line rental from BT, because if I want to move back to Zen or any other ISP, I first need to get the line moved back which will cost me a reconnection fee @ BT and tie me into another 12 month contract.

£7.50/month is really tempting though, and if it wasn't forcing me to buy sky line rental, I would switch instantly because even if I only used it for 3 months, I could pay off the entire contract and go back to Zen without any loss on my normal monthly costs.

I was confused too. I spoke to a Sky rep and he said the offer is £14.75 for first 4 months then ~£17 for 2 months and then £22.25. Works out to £237 for the year IIRC.

The issue of having to return to by will only apply if you move onto 'SVBN ' which means sky fully unbundle you from all BT or openreach equipment and connect you to their own equipment. Talk talk do the same thing. If you want to avoid this you can opt out of this when you sign up or if you have sky TV only take the bb and calls package and keep your LR with BT.

From what I've read, since September 1st, you can't take Sky broadband without also taking your line rental from Sky. If I try removing line rental, it removes broadband and tells me I also need line rental.

If you're a sky TV customer already you can take just calls, just BB, Calls and BB or calls, bb and Line Rental. If you don't have Sky TV it needs to be LR, BB and Calls.
