hey guys,

after a lot of fiddling around with my OC on the CPU, i have decided to go easy and stick at stock voltage and with a 4.2GHz OC without turbo boost on.

my question now is...

what is safe for my GPU? its a XFX AMD Radeon R9 380X 4GB DD Edition.

the stock clocks are 1030mhz and 5700mhz.

what regions are safe to push? do i do it slowly or increcements of 10 or what?

the max temp on the card is currently around 68c. is that too high for any further OCing?

68C under load is actually pretty good for the AMD cards. My R9 280X has hit 77-80C and that's at stock. I like to keep the GPU temp under 90C. Again, you want to keep an eye on what the GPU VRM temperature is, as well as the GPU RAM temp. Some cards are better cooled than others.

For example, my MSI R9 280X does have a heatsink that covers the RAM and VRMs. My old HIS HD7950 has a huge cooler, but it only covers the GPU die itself, meaning when I tried to OC it, the GPU was fine, but the rest of the card got very hot.

just regurgitating this tread..

i have (like mentioned) left my FX 8350 at stock, for my needs which is gaming for this unit, a slight OC seems almost pointless. but my GPU on the other hand is more suitable and will benefit from an OC.

what would a OC range be acceptable for this card? she is currently running at 1100mhz and 1525mhz with a temp maxing around 60-62c. the GPU fans never has risen above 40% even after a longish gaming sesh (albeit CS GO)according too msi afterburner.

what do i do? do i keep pushing up the freq. until a certain temp? or leave it as is? so far has been solid as a rock, no reboots, nothing.

Looks like you have room to push more, given the temps/fan speed.
Whether it's worth it outside of benchmarks is another question ;)

Have a look here for detailed OC instruction :)
