now or wait

I would wait for Bulldozer at this point, just a couple of weeks to Computex where they'll likely spill all the beans they've got on it.

And I'd want at least 500W for an X6, not particularly because of the processor itself but more because of the type of other components it usually goes with. :D

I'd keep waiting till Bulldozer, and i'd say 500W+ needed for either the x6 Phenom, or whatever Bulldozer may be :)

I would get something today... I mean, there's always something to wait for if you go down that road. When Bulldozer shows up, then there'll be some near release of a new graphics chip, or motherboard chipset, or new SSD... Gotta draw a line somewhere and say, go.

Na, Bulldozer is worth the wait. The next stop is IvyBridge, but that's gonna be quite expensive I recon.

When Bulldozer is out, the Phenoms will get discounted as well. Start saving, and if BD isn't up to scratch, move to 2500K (better than x6 phenom).

I have a list of things I want to buy. Will 400w work with my graphics wirh x6
?
New spec might be
Phenom x6
8Gb ddr3-1066
Radeon HD 5830
Gigabyte AMD-700 chipset
650w(eventually)
Ocz vertex 50gb

Any reccomendations?

Ah, if you had said Corsair, Antec, Enermax or Seasonic then I would have said "possibly"- but in that case I strongly suggest you get a new PSU, I would suggest a good quality unit in the 500W range. This one is a good choice (as its £3 more that the 520W version due to this weeks deal).

thank you, that is a great deal actually. might order one this week. might get the GFX and PSU now and wait till summer for the motherboard CPU and RAM. then i will be 100% up to date, not stuck in 2007 :D

Bulldozer is a matter of weeks away though, it will be worth the wait if you can wait. Ivy bridge isn't stopping people from buying Sandy bridge because that's months away yet.
