THIS is why there i has been such a sudden surge in harassment of motorists by police forces.

Before 2000, any money generated from speeding fines went to the Chancellor - i.e the government.

Since then, the money has been "recycled" into "improving road safety" - which means the police force is allowed to keep the revenue.

All of a sudden the police are interested in harassing motorists. I think this is 100% conclusive proof that police only pester motorists in order to generate revenue.

I mean how much money do they get from solving a murder? :rolleyes:

They get told by their bosses (the ones that care about money not crime) that they should be trying harder to generate revenue for the force.

Despite you all saying that you are capable of driving at the speed of light, do you not recognise that some people are not capable of reacting in time/driving safely at speed?

The average bobby normally exercises discretion and pulls people over doing dangerous things. It's not him that's the problem. Speed cameras and scamera vans are the problem, because they provide no solution to anything that actually causes accidents or deaths...
