Now TV resolution

Sorry not sure the point you're making?

I watch 4k Netflix but not sure whether I'd be happy with the 720 streams from now tv, or are you suggesting the quality is okay on a 4k display?

I watch NOW TV through a 42" 2018 Samsung 4K UHD panel and the 720p transmission of films and boxsets is actually fine. It obviously doesn't look as good as Netflix in 2160p or 1080p but it is actually fairly good for a 720p stream.

Anyone using nowtv having pixelating issues lately? The image quality has dipped so low on live TV that it's basically unwatchable.

Been watching Walking Dead and thats fine.
Watched the live sky sports matches yesterday and they were fine.
Also watched the F1 no problems.

watch nowtv mainly on network cable although the SUFC match was on wifi.

bad internet connection ?

I have a USB stick so it's only WiFi. It had been OK for the last 6 months.

All pre recorded streaming is fine, it's just live TV.

Hmm strange, just as I'm typing this the picture has suddenly improved . Do you think it's a matter of the quality dipping depending on how many people are using the service?

lives 576, so poorer than 720 prerecorded.

prerecorded is adaptive bitrate too depending on network bandwidth , it improves as the programs start and the handshaking recognises if you have sufficient bandwidth, to give you the best quality.

It would be good to know how to check what bandwidth nowtv, and netflix, think you have, as opposed to what you theoretically pay for.

I just watched the f1 and it was perfect the whole way through. So it's strange that comedy central was unwatchable earlier.
I have plusnet fibre but don't get the 36Mb that I should, it's more like 22Mb.

Netflix, Uktv, iplayer all work OK, but iplayer is the only live one out of them.

I didnt get on with the USB stick. Even with the stick next to my router as in 30cm away it would regularly lose the wifi connection. It also got very hot to the touch also. So I went back to the black box although I've now got my old Smart TV box there and the new Smart TV "4k" box in the living room.

The USB has normally been OK, it does get hot though. And you can't turn it off, which is weird.

I had been with sky for a couple of years but it used to regularly lose reception. I was waiting for sky TV through Internet to become a thing, but that kept getting delayed, so I decided to cancel and go with nowtv.
