Hi ,
Just purchased and installed upgrade from Overclockers i.e Gigabyte 990XA-UD3 AMD 990X (Socket AM3+)DDR3 Motherboard, AMD Piledriver FX-6 Six Core6300 Black Edition 3.50GHz (Socket AM3+) Processor and Crucial Ballistix Sport (2x4GB) DDR3 PC3-12800C9 1600MHz Dual Channel Kit.
Installed everything turned on won't boot. The only thing i have noticed is the CPU fan is barely turning. Rang Overclockers three times today they were not really interested ! My power supply is a 780W and wondering if this is past it's sell by date ? I have built computers before so i know what i am doing. Can anyone help ?

Regards

Fred

What make is your PSU?

I think that motherboard has 2 CPU headers, one for full power one for PWM, can you confirm that you have used the correct one (full power)?

Does the motherboard light come on when you press the power button?

Are you sure you've firmly plugged in both motherboard power sockets, and any graphics card ones?

When you press the power button, the CPU fan starts up slowly, but nothing else happens? Do the HDDs spin up?

Just to confirm all power connections are connected including the 8 pin for cpu power and both for the GPU.

Check the memory are in the correct slots as some boards are fussy.

Also try a CMOS reset.

Do you have another graphics card to try with?

Try one RAM stick at a time to see if maybe one of them is faulty.

Not looking good.

I take it you took the PSU out of a working system? You're sure it's fine?

Have you tried switching it on with only the memory, CPU and graphics card plugged in?

Can you look and see what REV board you have got, this should be in the top right hand corner, looking with the PCI slots on the left.

Cheers, I had a horrible thought that the board might need a BIOS update, but on the REV 3.0 the lowest BIOS supports all CPU'S.

You have tried the CMOS reset using the on board jumper?
