Nowt or nout?

It's nothing. I don't get why people feel the need to abbreviate, sure if there's a character limit but otherwise it doesn't really save time, it just serves to make you look immature.

Nowt isn't some crappy text abbreviation.

It's a regional variation of the word nothing. Which can actually be said without looking like some fool saying rofl irl.

It's not an abbreviation though, it's part of regional dialect. It's been used in Scotland since well before I was born and in many parts of Northern England that I know of which puts it a long time before text messaging was even conceived of.

And nowt is the correct spelling.

I pronounce it 'note'. Surely nowt and nout are pronounced the same?

edit: oh how its spelt, yea nowt.
